  • Official Induction Results - down 8.5

Ok...so it's not as exciting and glamorous as most induction results. However...I attribute this to the fact that I didn't have near as much excess water to lose as others might simply because I already take a water pill. So...I'm taking my 8.5 and moving on to OWL.

In the inches department...if I re-measured correctly, I've lost 8.5 (in the areas I'm choosing to measure...which probably differs person to person). Mostly from stomach, chest and hips. No changes in arms and legs...a little on right thigh but that might be a fluke.

Key learnings for me in moving forward:
    • I'm not eating near enough veggies because I'm crunched for time most of the time. I need to find better ways to be prepared in this department. I think I'm feeling this in the form of rapidly fatiguing muscles.
    • I'm not finding time to exercise. Unfortunately, I'm at a critical time at work right now. I did manage to get up and be at work by 6 am almost ever day last week. If I can keep up that schedule but exchange working for an AM workout...I'll be set. I will try this after June 15th (when critical goes back to merely high pressure)...till then, I'll keep getting up early to go to work to get my body used to the scheduel. Now...just gotta work out when I get HOME AT NIGHT till then! That's been a struggle.
    • I'm feeling constrained in being creative with foods right now. I really think this is changing gradually and will get better after June 13 when my guest leaves.
    • My guest and my current bf like my dang cooking...eating my dang leftovers...making me not be prepared for work lunches with leftovers....dangit!!! I gotta work on that.
    • Water. I'm drinking at least 2 liters a day. Since I'm not working out hard yet one would think this is enough...but I feel dehydrated, so I know it's not. I need to work on drinking more.
    • Cooking less is OK...even though I may be starving when I'm cooking...I am filling up faster. I need to cook a little less food.
What I love about Atkins Diet...all my life people have said "dieting is simple...just eat when your hungry"...but I was always hungry! When I'm low carb...I can ACTUALLY live by this principle without any struggle.

I'm moving over to OWL...I think it's time.
    Thanks all!
    Becki

    Stretch Goal: 140

Successfully did Atkins in 1998 using 1992 copy of the book...before it was "hip". Lost 60lbs, exercised daily, felt and looked great. And then I moved in with a junk-food loving man, my mom got sick and passed away, then I suffered a spinal cord injury, and junk-food dude left me...and now I weigh 292lbs. That's 22lbs MORE than I weighed the first time around. It's 10 years later...I know this will work for me again.

    Well done, Becki
I love it that you have looked back and analysed how you need to change things in your life for the future too
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

That is a fantastic job on induction! I learned REAL QUICK not to look at other people's results as it only made me feel like I was failing in some way. I would be disappointed if I only lost "x" amount of weight when I should have been proud of every pound I lost. And, other than licking all your food, I don't know how you are going to get them to keep from eating it.

On a serious not though, I had that problem too with my classmates and I had to have a talk with them...especially one girl because she would try to make me feel bad because I had such good food to eat. There was no way of getting around eating in class either because this one class was 5.5 hours long. It took me the whole semester to get it in their heads but now they understand I weigh/measure/count all my food that I have and they know not to ask. But, from my end, I did start making a few extra boiled eggs and taking them with me. Good luck.

Way to go! Great post! I think it really important to reflect on what you're doing right and what your doing wrong so you can figure out what works for you. I've been on induction for a week and its definitely a learning process. Good luck with OWL!

Whatdaya mean your results are not glamorous or exciting? Your results are fantablous! You need to tell those moochers that your food is 'diet' food and they won't like it! Nobody likes 'diet' food! At the very least, they need to learn to cook Atkins friendly food to share.

                      Thanks everyone!

As for telling the moochers it's "diet food"...that's hard to do when it looks and tastes as good as it does. Last night...I again made steamed broccoli with chicken in a white cheese sauce. Who can resist that??? Or fresh bacon...or chicken baked in butter. Or Spinach stuffed chicken. My best bet is to eat red meat...lol...the guest hates red meat. My bf though...he's not picky at all. He even eats the stuff I don't like. That salmon I made but didn't like...he polished it off without flinching.

Anyway...I appreciate all the kind words.

I'm having issues with fatigue right now something fierce. I've gotta get it resolved so that I can work out. Then I know I'll see some better results!
