  • Net Carbs question

First I want to say this board is great and thank you so much for all those with replies!!!

So when only limited to 20 carbs that's NET carbs right?
And all i do is take away the fiber from the carbs listed on the label?

for example if something has 13g carbs and 2g fiber than it's 11 net carbs ....is this correct?

    Re: Net Carbs question

You got it! Induction is 20 net carbs and most of them come from veggies.

    Welcome to the board!

      Thanks for the reply.

how many must come from veggies?

so it's not like it doesn't matter what they come from as long as you are under 20 net carbs? you have to get some of those net carbs from veggies?

how many carbs does 1 cup of the acceptable veggies make?
how many from the other veggies list?

I would say the more net carbs from veggies, the better. It does matter what carbohydrates you are choosing. There's a difference between a vegetable that is 5 net carbs and a cracker that is 5 net carbs. You can have the veggie, not the cracker. Do you Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution 2002? I highly suggest buying a copy. It will help you understand the veggie and carb counts much better.

If you are in the USA and looking at labels then yes this is correct.

If you are outside USA and especially in Europe and UK then our labels are different from USA ones and dont usually count fibre as being a carb at all, so our labels on the whole show the NET carbs already.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

            From DANDR
            3. Eat no more than 20 grams a day of carbohydrate, most of which must come in the form of salad greens and other vegetables. You can eat approximately three cups-loosely packed-of salad, or two cups of salad plus one cup of other vegetables (see the list of acceptable vegetables
As to how many carbs in one cup of the vegetables - you need to check a carb counter as the carb counts vary.

Or look at the USDA database for the veggies you are thinking of choosing http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/search/

The 'up to 20 net carbs' includes all carbs you eat including sweeteners (count one carb per packet of the granulated stuff) and one carb per ounce of cheese regardless of how many carbs it has.
