Hi. I have never posted on anything before so I hope I'm doing it correctly. I am on Day 3 of Induction (9:00 in the morning) and I am so dizzy and shaking so badly I'm thinking I may have to leave work and go home to lie down. Is this normal? I drank a Diet Coke with caffeine when I got up at 6:00 a.m. Could this be part of the problem? So far I've eaten about 2 oz. of cheddar cheese, a hot dog, and 1/2 a cucumber. I'm not hungry, however; just so shaky and dizzy. I'd appreciate any comments or suggestions.

Re: Day 3 and I am so Dizzy and Shaky
It is called "induction flue" Most people who start on Atkins will experience this in induction. I did around day 3 too. It will pass and then you will be in ketosis and feel great.
However, I think I would a bit shaky if I started the day with a coke on an empty stomach. On Atkins we try to kick the caffeine habit. Caffeine may raise your blood sugar levels (It has been proven in studies) and that is what we try to avoid. It is hard to kick caffeine. Believe me I know. But a gradual stepping down will help.
Another issue with diet Coke is the sweetener in it - Aspertaine. It will stall many people.
Congratulations on starting Atkins and on your first post and welcome to ADBB.

Just a heads up--stay away from the hot dogs. From the Atkins website, "Processed meats, such as ham, bacon, pepperoni, salami, hot dogs and other luncheon meats—and some fish—may be cured with added sugar and will contribute carbs." Not to mention there is so much better stuff to be eaten than hot dogs--like steak or chicken or a great piece of fish!!
Are you getting in your vitamin???? I find that my body is miserable when I skip mine. I take a weight conscious one from Wal Mart and it suits me fine.
Also, water is a necessary component to this WOE. If you don't get it in you'll feel terrible. Stay away from the diet soda until you finish your induction and switch to water. You're only allowed 3 servings a day of sweetner per day otherwise you'll stall.
Also you aren't eating enough. You had a diet coke for breakfast--not good. Have you read DANDR? You really need to read the book in order to get the diet down. Your menu looks very light as far as food goes.
