  • Any tips?

I am on 8th day of induction. I lost about 5lbs already but I think last week was more just water weight and I was PMS and I think normally gain weight around that time.

But this week it seems to be hardly moving in weight loss. I know I dont have much to loose so that may be why? I have only about 8lb to be at my ideal weight.

But I also exercise quite a bit so I know i need to stop thinking of weight but more size. right?

I do eat a pumpkin dessert each day but that is a legal induction veggie and I only put 1 packet splenda.

Otherwise I've been tracking my carbs keeping around 13-20 carbs a day.

Any tips on what not to do, what to do, what works for you etc, what to expect would be great!

I need motivation to stick with this!

    Re: Any tips?

first of all, congrats on the 5 lbs lost. secondly, maybe you could post a daily menu for reveiw so that maybe someone could give you some pointers. thirdly, maybe you could cut down on your pumpkin dessert to only a couple times a week in case that is what has slowed your progress down.

just a few thoughts, good luck to you

      Re: Any tips?

It is normal to see a slow down after a big loss like that. And if you are looking to lose 13 lb a drop of 5 first week is great. My suggestion would be to stay away from the scale. It sounds like you may be worrying too much about the day to day weight. This day to day weight can fluctuate a lot and we cannot let ourselves be directed by it. If you work out hard, for instance, it is not uncommon to retain water and you will see a small weight gain.

Thank you very much for the replies. I have to admit I really love my pumpkin and being able to have it helps me to keep on this diet. So if I loose weight but more slowly then that's fine as long as I loose it.

        My menu is normally:

2 eggs cooked different ways (scrambled, sunny, omlet w/cheese)
with either sausage, bacon or hot link

lunch - tuna salad with mayo, celery and cheese

        Dinner - meat with veggies

snack - pork grinds, or turkey with lettuce and mayo

        pumpkin dessert

love777...considering that you only had about 13 pounds to lose and you already lost 5 of that you are doing incredibly well! Most people lose about 10% of what they need to lose during induction so you are ahead of schedule. And the last 10% is supposed to be very slow coming off.

Also..another way to look at it is if the first week was mostly water weight this week your body is readjusting and the part of the five pounds is actually becoming fat loss this week. Do measure as lots of times you will see no movement on the scale but will on the tape measurement.

Atkins is not a quick fix and you are doing extremely well already. Plan on climbing the rungs and learning all the ways to keep the weight off.

I hear that alot. Climbing the rungs.
            What is rungs?
I am assuming its climbing the owl ladder.

So does that mean I add 5 carbs each week on each "rung"?

Yes...climbing the OWL ladder. Especially because you do have so little left to lose. There is nothing wrong with planning ahead so check out the OWL forum and read the stickies at the top. You can stay at any rung until you are comfortable to move on and you have added the new foods to your list. The stickies at the top will explain it better than I. Go have a look so you already know what to do.
