  • Day 8: 1/2 lb. lost

I am very frustrated. I am on Day 8 of Induction and I have lost a total of 1/2 of a pound. What can I possibly be doing wrong? I am following this Induction to the letter. I am reading the instructions over and over. My husband is doing it as well and is down 5 lbs. We're following the same rules! I was drinking a couple of Caffeine Free Diet Cokes each day, but have stopped that because someone said the Aspartame could keep me from losing. Okay, now what? I am 5' 5" and weigh 134. My husband says I don't have enough to lose and that's why Atkins isn't working for me. I've never done this before and it just seems so odd to be eating bacon and eggs for breakfast and steak for dinner, etc. Is it possible that my body just isn't reacting properly? I felt terrible for the first 3 to 4 days, but now feel great--just want to lose some lbs.! Any ideas or suggestions?

Well - if you have maybe 5-10 pounds to lose (guessing, as I am the same height and can't imagine being much less than 125 pounds ever ) then an 'average' loss might be somewhere between 1/4 pound and 1 pound over the 14 days (5%-10% of your total hoped for loss), so I reckon you are not doing badly

So continue eating to plan for the rest of your 14 days of induction then start climbing up the OWL carbohydrate ladder.

Try not to get on those pesky scales till day 15 too.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

BTW how much weight is your husband looking to lose? Apart from the difference in hoped-for weightloss, on the whole men lose weight more quickly as they dont have the hormonal shifts that we are blessed with, so never compare your losses with a man!

Thanks so much. You are right--I'd like to lose a max of 10 lbs. (I have a very small frame and gained these 10 lbs. in the last 2 years after getting married...) I guess I never thought about it in terms of the 5% to 10%. My husband has much more to lose--30 to 40 lbs. I feel better now. I was pretty close to throwing in the towel tonight, but I think I can still hang on. It's so great to be able to get support from others out there!!!!
