  • Hi!

I did post my intro in the spotlight forum. I do have one question though: I've done this diet before, and lost my baby weight, but I never had the difficulty of forcing myself to eat. This time I'm just SO NOT hungry! And for someone who can eat half a bag of oreos for dinner, that says a lot! I don't want my metabolism to slow because it thinks I'm starving myself, but as a stay-at-home mom of two little boys, I get so busy and forget to eat! Today I had two cups of steamed broccoli for lunch, and I just had 2 oz of pulled pork (8g) and half a coke zero! I usually drink like three a day! (I am drinking plenty of water) I'll probably have cheese later. I'm not nauseous, but I have noticed that when I do eat cheese, I tend to MILDLY crave more or something else, which is when I usually have another coke zero.

Any ideas or suggestions are welcome and appreciated! Thank you!

ETA: I have not noticed any weight difference in weight or my clothes fitting differently. I also am on day 7 of the Induction phase and my stix say that I am in ketosis, obviously, because of the appetite loss!

    Re: Hi!

Typically ketosis causes a loss in appetite. I STRONGLY suggest against the Coke Zero. It is sweetened with Aspartame which is a no-no, and it's full of caffeine, which is also something you want to avoid. You say that the cheese causes you to crave, I think it's more of the caffeine and sugar that is causing you to crave. Typically for most people high fatty food curbs cravings. It seems that if you feed a craving with something that can cause cravings then it's a nasty cycle of no weightloss and you won't be able to conquer you addiction of sugar and caffeine.

Good luck on everything and quit drink that coke zero nastyness!

      Re: Hi!

Thanks! I didn't mean that it makes me crave sweets, just more cheese. The entire coke zero is hard for me to even finish, so I doubt that's causing any problems, kwim? I don't crave ANYTHING...and I've never had THAT problem before! LOL! I did look up my BMR (1471.3) and my calorie needs (1765) I just don't see how I can get it! I can't see eating that much food! Are there any particular foods that are better to eat, as far as a high calorie count, for those who have a loss of appetite? Thanks so much!

        Re: Hi!

That's a good question cause I've been having the same problem (no appetite and trying to get enough food in me).

Your BMR seems low, do you have a lot to lose? If you don't have a lot to lose the weightloss won't be that fast.

You want to make sure you're eating at LEAST your BMR so that your body doesn't go into starvation mode.

            Re: Hi!

I had to start eating that 1/2 avocado a day to up my calories. I had to figure out ways to add more fat to my diet, that add three times the calories as either carb or protien. I had to eat items that were more calorie dense or I wasn't even getting 1200 calories a day. I just didn't want to eat at all! Wasn't hungry for anything. I knew that I couldn't really handle more volume so I chose to not really eat things like lettuce which has almost no calories. My energy is a bit better now. I know you are still in induction but that is one of the reasons I went ahead and moved to the nut rung so I could have an easily portable food that was packed with calories.

OOOOOOH! NUTS! WOOOOHOOOO! LOL! I will try the avocado thing, and I did see something about a fitday.com counter????

I also have to add that my energy level is THROUGH THE ROOF! I've been up cleaning until midnight (I'm a nightowl usually anyway, but still was tired by 10 or so before the diet). I was up last night until 1:30a, just surfing the net! It's crazy, and I LOVE IT! LOL!

Ummmm.....OMG! I just realized that I have been wearing the same skirt ALL DAY that I usually have to leave the zipper undone about an inch, if I'm going to be really comfy.

Zipper is all the way up! WOW! Day 7!

Porcelain has it right. You need to find some more calorie dense food. I had the same problem last time. For example...since you are so busy with the kids make some sort of quiche that you make a head and then just reheat your portion for the morning times. These can be made ahead and frozen into individual portions and reheated in the microwave no problem. The same for lunch...find something you like and make a big portion of it. Re: Hi!

Thank you for the low carb menus and recipes! When I started this lifestyle change, it involved an overhaul for everyone in the family! Financial, eating out (which we have not done in seven days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!), making menus and getting back to cooking, which surprisingly, I've enjoyed! LOL! The portions being frozen is a great idea. Thanks so much!

                      Re: Hi!

If you like Avacado make up a good batch of guacamole and add a few heaping tablespoons to a lot of your dishes . it's awesome on veggies and most meats...... adds a little zest and flavor to anything and boosts your caloric intake and fat as well .......... don't hesitate to drizzle some melted butter on veggies and meats as well if you need to boost the fat and caloroes.

I can't do much cheese at all it also leaves me wanting more and seems to be a HUGE staller for me. It may take you some times to figure out which foods work for you and don't ......... as far as having time to eat make up some quiches and have slices ready to grab .. you can have veggies meat and cheese in a handy easy to grab food choice and know your legal and can grab in a hurry!

Sounds like your doing great so far!

Congrats on the zipper being all the way up! Be sure and measure yourself because sometimes when the scale doesn't show a change, your measurements and the way your clothes fit. A lot of people have an item of clothing that is too small that they try on periodically to see how it fits. I have a pair of jeans that I use.
