  • IS homemade chili and induction Item?

I make my chili with no beans. In it is 2lbs hamburger meat, 2 large cans tomatoes (40 carbs in all), and 1/6 onion (less than one carb), chili mix that has 10 carbs for entire pouch and water. I know that all the above are induction items. This feeds about 12 (or more) people.... So I roughly figure 50 carbs for the entire recipe. so less than 5 carbs per bowl....

    what do you think...

I am not sure about what is in the chili mix. People here do use Ranch dressing mix so it may be okay. Just in case I am including a recipe for you. I have made this with crushed tomatoes...tomatoes from the garden...and both ways have tasted good. Will give you a tip though...the first time I made this I doubled the recipe...I recommend not doubling the red pepper flakes unless you like it HOT! LOL!

    From: Di Bauer
    2 pounds ground beef
1 heaping teaspoon minced garlic (about 1 large clove, fresh)
    1 tablespoon red pepper flakes
1 14.5-ounce can diced tomatoes with green chilies
1 15-ounce can no sugar added tomato sauce
1 8-ounce can no sugar added roasted garlic tomato sauce
1 tablespoon cayenne pepper (or to taste)
    1 tablespoon onion powder
    1 teaspoon paprika
    1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
    1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
    sour cream (optional)
    shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

Brown the ground beef with the garlic and red pepper flakes; drain
thoroughly. Combine the browned meat/spices with all the remaining
ingredients except the sour cream and shredded cheese. Place mixture
in a crockpot and cook on high 3-4 hours or low 6-8 hours. Serve hot,
garnished with dollops of sour cream and sprinkles of cheddar cheese,
    if desired.

Freezes well for a quick lunch or snack.

I think it sounds delicious and within your carb count for induction. Remember to count the tomatoes and onion in each portion as some of your 1 cup of 'other vegetables', and check the list of ingredients in the mix too just in case it contains anything not 'induction-legal'.

One of our members used to eat a bowl of chili (without beans) for breakfast often.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
