  • Continue induction?

Today is officially 2 weeks that I have been on induction. I have lost 6 pounds, but most of it was in the first week. I have had a hard time staying within the 20 net carbs -- not because I'm gorging on ice cream or anything but have gone over on salad by about 5 carbs or so. I think my body needed the nutrients as I have also been using new medications. (Non-negotiable ones that I need.)

The doctor just gave me the ok to start exercising again (I'm on a beta blocker for high blood pressure). I hit the treadmill yesterday.

So here's my question--do you think I should continue induction to get the loss going again? Or should I move onto OWL. Induction is beginning to feel very monotonous to me. I need more veggies!

    Re: Continue induction?

If you're already going over on your veggies, then by ALL MEANS just go ahead and move to rung 1.

You know, there are LOTS of folks out there that say they are doing extended induction but the truth is that if they REALLY look at what they are eating (one Fast food salad is OVER induction level veggie amounts) they are eating at rung 1!

Besides that, I have NEVER seen anyone get fat from eating vegetables. And, since you like them so much, you should go ahead and move up. Vegetables are our friend!

      Re: Continue induction?

I am not sure how much weight you have to lose as you didn't post your stats. But if you lost 6 pounds during induction and the majority of that in the first week I want to assure you that that is what happens. Majority of weight lost in the first week and it does slow down in the second week. This is normal. But this is also where some people panic or get discouraged (not you...but generally) and think Atkins isn't working. BUT IT IS! It is not a crash diet. And the weight took time to get on and it will take time to go off.

Anyway...sounds like you are doing well. I am a avocate of climbing the rungs. You will continue to lose there. And you will get to know your body more and what foods agree with your body. It will guarantee you a greater chance of success at this WOE. There is great variety there. OH what fun you will have!
