Re: Day 12 and very tired

Hi there, I've come with my 2 cents of advice. I couldn't tell from your supplements if you are getting much in the way of B vitamins. A deficiency in these could cause that sluggish drowsy effect. You could add a B complex or bee pollen (which is rich in the broad spectrum of B's) and see if that helps.

I know my husband and I both felt a surge of energy when we started taking bee pollen a few months ago. We started taking it in granule form, but found the tablets to be more convenient, so we take it in the tablet form now. We take one bee pollen and one royal jelly - also high in the B's that include several of the supplements Dr. Atkins recommends in the book - first thing in the morning. You could add another dose in the afternoon if you like, but they don't recommend it too late in the evening as it can interfere with sleep in some people.

Good luck....hopefully you'll get that energy back soon!

      Stephie,

I am glad to hear that you already know you are healthy. I am one who drinks constantly also, I had to go back to a little regular diet coke for the energy boost! Keep up the good work!

Re: Day 12 and very tired

We had just seen that bee polllen at the store in the granule form and wondered what in the heck it was for ?? How do you use the granule form, it looked kind of weird to us !!??
We will go check it out and see what we can find but we will at least get a b complex, It was suggested earlier for me to take that and a c and we just forget to get them.
Hubby and I took a half hour walk to day and I was pooped by the time we got home, so I know that will also help with the energy too, once I start getting used to it !!
I appreciate everyone stopping by and it is hard to know that caffiene would perk me back up and not use it, but I am determined to stay caffiene free !!!

Re: Day 12 and very tired

Well, when we used the granules, I would sprinkle it on my cereal (sunny boy porridge) and my husband would just take it as is with some water, but the texture might not be agreeable to everyone that way. You may be able to dissolve it in water. That's why we found it easier to take it in tablet form, no worries about what to mix it with!

Do hang in there booklady and you will be so glad that you did. I thought about it like this. I was carrying around an extra person in weight and with the help of glucose and caffeine I didn't feel the strain quite so much.

Cutting out the carbs and stimulants your poor old body is left to cope alone which of course comes as quite a shock to your system. Keep at it and as the weight reduces so will your need for naps and you will feel full of engergy.

I look at it in a simuliar way and I know my body is much better without the stimulants messing with it. It is getting better and I know the excercise will help too !!
Thanks for your encouraging words !!

Guys please see my post about "WATER INTOXICATION" it can lead to serious health problems. YOU CAN DRINK TO MUCH WATER!!! Please look it up on internet and become informed! Your life literally could depend on it. I have seen this a few times in real life and it does flood your electrolytes depleting your sodium levels as well. It can affect your cognitive abilities as well as your physical being. In advanced stages your eyes can actually "float" back and forth in your socket!!! PLEASE PLEASE become informed. We had a lady die from it here in Washington last year!

Re: Day 12 and very tired

We found the bee pollen and might try it later but it said some people may be allergic and I wanted to research it better because I have very bad pollen allergies in the spring and thought it might be a problem for me, so I bought a good B 50 vitamin and some C also. Thanks for telling me and we may still try it once I figure out if it will bother me !!
I did read up water intoxication and feel the water I drink is fine. Over the course of 16 hours from aprox nine am to one am , I drink between 140 and 200 ounces. I never drink a bunch at a time, it is spread out throughout the day. I am taking vitamins daily as well.
I am not drinking a bunch in an hour and rarely drink more then two glasses , three tops in an hours time , if I drink the entire 200, which is about two thirds of the time, that equals about 12.5 ounces an hour and many times it is less than that.
My husband drinks as much as I do every day as he is a maint mechanic and is in the heat and humidity all day in the plant and he has for years in fact decades drank anywhere from 140 to 180 ounces a day plus his coffee.
I appreciate your concern, but I am not drinking any more water than I used to drink soda with ice in it for the last decade. I drank a two liter a day which is aprox 67 ounces and then used about a gallon bag of ice a day as I would fill my large cup to the top with ice every time I filled it with soda or refilled it. The only differance now is it is water, not soda.

Though water intoxication is a real problem and can even kill, it is not a thing to worry about if you space your water out through the day and do not swill large quantities in a very short time.

I did a quick google and found many pages with info similar to this one Water Intoxication & Hyponatremia
It's Not How Much You Drink, It's How Fast You Drink It!
The kidneys of a healthy adult can process fifteen liters of water a day! You are unlikely to suffer from water intoxication, even if you drink a lot of water, as long as you drink over time as opposed to intaking an enormous volume at one time. As a general guideline, most adults need about three quarts of fluid each day. Much of that water comes from food, so 8-12 eight ounce glasses a day is a common recommended intake. You may need more water if the weather is very warm or very dry, if you are exercising, or if you are taking certain medications. The bottom line is this: it's possible to drink too much water, but unless you are running a marathon or an infant, water intoxication is a very uncommon condition.

That was the same information I read and that is why I was not concerned. The absolute most I drink in an hour is three to four glasses, but that is rare, most hours I drink just one to three. I pretty much space my water over the entire day. Yesterday I got in 173 ounces from nine am to just before midnight.
I do appreciate the concern, but feel that most people are fine and are not in danger, but the information is still good to have.
