  • Checking ketones

Finally managed to track down some ketostix and want to test with them.

Whats the best time of the day to use them and ideally where should I be? I am day seven of induction.

    Thanks
    Anna

    Re: Checking ketones

They say that early in the morning your urine is more concentrated and your color will show up darker, or if you aren't hydrated it will appear darker. However, I have also read that the darker the color doesn't necessarily mean that you are producing more ketones either. Any signs of ketones at all indicate fat breakdown....but keep in mind that even if the sticks show nothing at all, you could still in fact be burning fat. Hope that helps!

      Re: Checking ketones

I dont use them as I never saw any colour change even when losing a few pounds a week, but you should take them at the same time each day. I can't find the reference at the moment but think in DANDR Dr Atkins suggested taking them in the evenings rather than the mornings.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

I tried them in the evening and the morning. The morning one was one shade lighter than the evening. Both showed I am in ketosis and not just trace. I would have thought the darker the better but it seems that isn't tre and as long as it shows in the positive then it's ok.

          *sheepish smile*

I probably test 3x a day LOL. I'm only day 7, so i'm still in the "facination" stage that anything besides a pregnancy test turns pink!

I usually have a high reading in the morning (more concentrated); then a moderate in the afternoon, and a moderate in the evening. I've yet to lose any lbs, but I just started that TOM, so we'll see here at the end of the week how the scale looks.

          Luck!!

Preferably, you should be in the bathroom. The bed typically requires a change of the sheets, the front yard is a tad too impersonal, and in the kitchen while making your breakfast is just eww.
