  • Gaining weight on Induction!!

Someone Please tell me this is not the way its suppose to be! Im desperate to lose this weight and get my life back!

I started the Induction June 11, 2008 (10 days ago) I had lost 6 pounds and was happy with that but the last two days i have gone up 3 pounds!!! I have not cheated, Been 100% complient, I eat all my meats and veggies and drink 2.5 liters of water daily. Along with taebo exercise 5 days a week.

heres a sample of my typical daily meals:

Breakfast: 3 slices bacon/ 2 fried eggs in the bacon grease/ 1Cup tomato
    Lunch: 1 Fried pork chop/ 1C cucumbers
    Dinner: 6-8oz Grilled Steak/zucchini

At most i have 1 diet/caffine free soda a day along with my 2.5 liters water. The only thing extra would be at most 2 packs splenda that a recipe may call for.

    Please help!

Hi, well I have gained weight at times and then when the big Woosh comes I drop like5 or 6 pounds overnight. Don't get too discouraged hand in there. Just remember you have worked hard to get here and it is not woth regressing. Hang tight. Some people I hear can not use the splenda at all. Also, lettuce is a diuretic, and if you eat your salads it flushes too I think. Good Luck!

That scale can be such a liar sometimes. You should measure and also do your inches as a corrective. Often we lose inches but not pounds. Also your weight can vary a lot from day to day - usually related to water retention and has nothing to do with food. Sometimes eating something salty will lead to water retention. Sometimes the monthly period can make us bloat (that happens to me)

But in your case I would surmise that you training will Billy Blanks is making you retains some water to repair the muscles you are stretching. That is a temporary thing and it will correct itself. Stick to the plan.

Yup, also I have a pair of gauging pants and the 1 1/2 weeks that I was stalled I kept trying on my pants and they kept getting bigger and bigger...OH WAIT...I was getting smaller and smaller! LOL It will happen hang in there, and vent on us daily if you have to. It is so worth it, I already am feeling more energy and bounce. I still amazes me I have lost 3 #10 bags of potatoes and 1 #5 bag of potatoes off of my body! No wonder I feel lighter, and when you start feeling that you will be so pleased with yourself for sticking to it. Another thing if you are using the Keto Sticks and one night your show Neg. don't get depressed and binge. One night I was Neg. and got so down, but the very next day I was back in ketosis and I was so glad I stood my ground. Someday we will be on here and we both will have reached our goals!

          Re: Gaining weight on Induction!!

You can go up for like that for many reasons, TOM, heat or working out causing some bloating, or many other things.
In my experince when that happens, I usually lose a bunch right after, so that could be what is happening.
Your diet is pretty good, but a cup of tomato is way too much on induction. I keep it to a quarter of a small tomato a day as tomatos can be carby.
I would recommend a nice green leafy salad instead of the cup of cucumbers which do not have a ton of nutritional value like the greens do.
With all the water you are drinking, I doubt the one soda and two splenda packets are a problem, but keep your eye on that just in case.
I think you will be fine but if it does not go back down, look into changing those cups of veggies and see how that works.
Congrats for being at day 10, that is great, I am going on 14 , so I just ahead of you !!

the scales can be a real downer sometimes, especially if you are stepping on them every day. it could be you had too much salt in the last couple of days, and your body is retaining water or like liv said due to your workouts, your muscles are retaining water to heal and will release it soon. also, since you are working out, you are gaining muscle and it weighs more than fat. the more muscle you gain, the more fat you will burn quickly. just hang in there, like you said it's only day 10. try staying off the scale until the end of your 14 day induction, i'm sure you'll be suprised with great results.

stick to your guns and good luck

LOL! What a great way to look at it! Measure in bags of potatos! Hehe! Love it! But its true!! Love the analogy!

                Re: Gaining weight on Induction!!

I agree I would adjust the splenda and tomatos, possibly get rid of them for a little while and see if that makes a differerence. I stay away from diet soda too some times that helps. We all have stalls for different reasons. I can not have any thing with aspartime in it for example it stops me right in my tracks.

Good point with the exercise or tom it could be a number of things as to why you have gone up a little. Hang in there, I know its frustrating.

Thanks for the replies every one, Im going to cut out all the splenda since it definetly cannot be TOM. And keep on going, it has to give at some point but its such a bummber to have only lost 3 pounds in 11 days when i have soooo much to lose. All of your words were very encouraging.
Hopefully i can win this fight of obesity.

                    Re: Gaining weight on Induction!!

You can win it, no doubt, It just comes down to figuring out what you have to give up and it is differant for everyone.
I had to give up all sweetners and caffiene and dairy and for the first time, I am dropping the weight like crazy. Day 14 and I am down 19 pounds. I have NEVER lost this fast on this plan but I never was willing to give up so much.
I only drink water and after the first four or five days I stopped missing the diet soda.
So, just figure out what YOU need to do by experimenting. There is not a doubt in my mind that you can lose it, but you have to be willing to give up whatever it takes to do it.
I wish you the best, and just never give up, it is a fight you can win for sure !!!

It's hard not to watch the scale, but keep in mind this weight took a long time to get on and will take just as long to come off. It isn't a race, If you stay the course, you will look and feel better and the weight will come off. I would be willing to bet that most of us would say we wish it was a lot faster but we have learned to be reluctantly patient with the process.

This is very true, Im NOT giving up I cannot i have a two year old daughter to be around for. It was just a bit suprising to have gained weight during Induction while having so much weight to lose, Im still hanging in here and giving it all I've got.

                            Re: Gaining weight on Induction!!

Hi..I'm a couple of days behind you on induction and I'm at day 8.

I'm a seasoned dieter (hehe aren't we all) and know the pitfalls of weighing too often and the power of that number that you see when you look at the scale.

Who'd have thought that a number would have the power to make us feel good or bad. When I started induction I made a conscious effort to not weigh myself til the end of the 14 days knowing that the body naturally fluctuates during the week (especially for women) and also that the shock Atkins will be to my system may react on those levels.

I enlisted the help of my willing partner who understands that the temptation to stand on the scales and "just check my progress" could quickly become a daily obsession which could impact on my motivation. He's hidden them from me and will bring them out on day 14 for the grand weigh, then they go into hiding again for a month and I will be able to notice my weight loss through measurements and clothing which are a 'friendlier' guide to use.

Keep going, keep focusing on changing the habits and stay off the scales til day 14 and then look at the overall result. Pick one item of clothing to use as a measure and let that be a guide.

You're in the right place to get motivation and support to achieve your goals..and you will get there!
"Don't let the fear of the time it will take to accomplish something stand in your way of doing it. The time will pass anyway; we might just as well put that passing time to the best possible use."

I cut out all diet sodas, and splenda, along with bacon because of the high sodium content and nothing is seeming to give. Getting depressed. My question really is Is this normal? seems as though every diet i try nothing seems to work, even medically supervised weightloss i get to a point where i CANNOT lose no matter what methods have been tried. grrrr bad day.
