  • Really thinking of quitting...I am so frustrated...

So I told you all how I lost 6 pounds first week, cheated and gained 3. Well I have been super good all week and have not lost anything...no change in measurements either...and I have been in Ketosis the whole time.
I am eating nothing different then I did on the first week and I do have the early 2000 Atkins book so that's what I am following.
Anyone else have this problem? If I keep @ it will it work it's self out or should I just move on?

Sounds as if you already have your mind made up. However, I would stick it out and continue on this journey. You need to stay focused and resist the urge to cheat and need to maintain a positive attitude. Being frustrated is sure to bring on failure. So cheer up and duke it out. In no time you'll see that your body will react and snap out of it. God Bless, Joe

      Hi Katt,
Rome wasn't built in a day. Think about how long you have wanted to make a change. The time it takes to lose is so short compared to the time it took to get to the point where you are. There will be sticking points but what is that compared to your life time? A week? A month? Keep at it!! You will win. I fought my weight for 20 years, is all this weight coming off over night? Of course not, but it is coming off. I have gotten stuck and will again, we all do. Atkins is the only way I feel to win. Go Girl!!

Stop weighing yourself religiously! It's about what's going on. I can attribute so many of my weight-loss failures to weighing myself and getting miserable and frustrated from what the scale says. If you are in ketosis, you are definitely burning fat...keep that in mind! There are so many things that can cause your weight to fluctuate on the scale, such as your sodium intake and even the actual weight of the food you ate! Don't give up, you've already come so far!

Dont give up, That will only lead to more weight gain and frustration! Im having a bit of a difficult time as well, Im on day 11 Induction and had lost 6 pounds then gained back 3 of those pounds WITHOUT a cheat, Of course im frustrated but i cannot give up on the diet. Your body will definetly work with you as long as you work for it! Im sure before you know it a big woosh will come along.

i hope this doesn't sound too blunt, but it almost sounds like you are waiting for someone to give you permission to give up. i can tell you that you're not going to get that here. you will get all the support and encouragement that we can give you to help keep you on track. the next time you think of cheating, instead try to think of some legal foods you can fix that resembles closely to what you are craving. try not to be so discouraged about not losing any weight the second week alot of people lose less weight the second week than they did in ther first week anyways. with the cheat, it is just gonna take a little time for your body to adjust without those bad carbs again. keep up what you are doing and give it some more time. you will start losing again if you just stay strong and cheat free. the other alternative is to go off plan then you're almost sure to gain weight and be miserable. i'm pretty sure that you don't want to do that.

so good luck to you and i hope you stick with it. stay true to the plan and to yourself and good things are sure to come. remember to also drink your water and get some exercise.

once again i hope this wasn't too blunt, just hate to see someone give up so quickly,

In relation to what you are going through, my wife was getting pretty upset because I was losing weight and she was staying steady. But then one morning, she was down 1 lb. And she was energized to keep going. Keep on the path and one morning you will wake up, see some weight has dropped, and want to keep going.

Read this, then read it again- because it's as true as it's going to get.

Instant gratification is a bugger. We want it. We all want it, but the truth is that wanting and needing instant gratification is part of what landed most of us in trouble in the first place. You're not always going to be instantly (and a week in the whole scheme of things might as well be instant) rewarded for being a 'good girl'. It took some time to put the weight on and it's going to take time, patience, and work to take it off. There are going to be weeks and sometimes months where you aren't rewarded the way you want to be for the work you put in, but that doesn't mean that the benefits aren't coming!

Here's what I can guarantee you: If you quit, you're not going to be rewarded At. All.

You know what to do. You know how to do it! Work the heck out of it, stick with it, and if that scale throws you off- stay off that sucker!! It's like I always say....I have yet to buy a pair of pants with a weight requirement on the tag, but they all have a waist size requirement. Scales are dumb. They lie. They're an inaccurate way to gauge your progress and they mess with our heads too easily. Remember that you're losing fat from *all over* your body and it's pretty darn hard to measure ear fat and waddle reduction

Hang in there! You CAN do it!

Well said I could not say it any better.

Brook~~~ear fat and waddle reduction you crack me up good point though

All I can add is if you do what the book says you will loose. Hang in there. I am constantly getting frustrated and my husband always has to remind me that I did not "put this weight on overnight" and to give my body a chance to lose it. I then have to take a deep breath and say "your right". So we have all been where you are, its tough, its a long hard road to follow you just need to make your choice and figure out if its worth the hard work you NEED to put in to get the job done.

That was my very first thought. You will find how your body reacts to TOM now...I find that I stall 2 weeks before, gain the week before and then get a huge whoosh and get back to where I was and then I lose the rest int he next 2 weeks...and then star all over again. LOL. Madness, I know...but our bodies do some crazy things! LOL

I really hope you stick with this
