  • Oh no, help day 4 and hubby says I have to go to dinner!

    EEK,

I have been running errands all day and was about to have a salad but now my husband says I must go to dinner (the in-laws will be there). This is always where things go wrong as I eat something off the menu that I think is okay not realizing all the extra sugar and junk the restaurants add. I explained that I am on a "diet" as that's the only word he would understand...and he gave me a look like he was thinking, you've been on a diet since we met. True. But....I've never been so serious about this as I am now. ARGHHHHH.

Okay so today so far I've had
2 scrambled eggs cooked in olive oil
    1/4 cup mushrooms
4 oz pork (leftover roast fried in the same pan)

I was just about to eat my salad and have a late dinner (I wake up a little later and sleep past midnight hence the late late lunch)

This is the menu where we are going (in like an hour....argh) http://www.konagrill.com/menu.php?cid=7

Please, someone give me some suggestions as to what I should be safe with. I was planning on just picking at the food to be social but we all know that even the "tasting" is banned if it's wrong....

    This is so stressful.

Wow I want to go to that restaurant. You're very lucky.
They have really good food. And it looked like plenty of choices for a low carb person.

I like the fillet mignon - order steamed broccoli for a side or a salad with dressing on the side.
But the lamb, veal, lobster, swordfish all looked good.
If you are having appetizer maybe caviar or the seafood platter (stay away from coctail sauce - ask for plain melted butter)

Thanks! The plans changed, it's now at Kona Grill and the options look worst. SIGH....this is gonna suck.

I think I would go for their ribeye with a side of salad (always ask for the dressing on the side).

Hope it went well. Eating out I usually order a caesar salad with grilled chicken..hold the croutons and garlic bread. Or steak...hold the potatoes exta veggies (check what they are first and ask for steamed..no sauce on them. Salad instead of soup.

Re: Oh no, help day 4 and hubby says I have to go to dinner!

I ended up picking the sliders.....the description said "100% beef" and I ordered them without bun, ate them...and then I realized, what if it meant...100% beef plus bread crumbs, sugar and other stuff? Like if it had pork it wouldn't have said 100%...but it didn't so it was in fact 100% beef....with tons of bread. Ahh the horror! Good thing I don't have a battery in my scale because knowing myself I would have weighed myself to see if I gained and then knowing my luck, I would have and I would have given up. Right now I'm trying to convince myself that they were in fact all beef....this stinks.
Thanks guys for the advice! I left too early to read what you guys had suggested!

Okay...don't panic! Drink lots of water and just keep going. You learned a good lesson. It was only a total disaster if you didn't learn it. I just quoted Maya Angleo to a buddy and it works good here as well...
