  • Update On Making Adjustments

So, last Saturday (my weigh in day) I got on the scale after four weeks of induction and saw no weight loss at all. So, I re-read the induction section of the book to trouble-shoot what I might be doing wrong. I realized that there were a few things I could adjust in my diet that might help the situation. So I did. I quit coffee, cream and cheese, I added 85 ounces of water each day and intended on eating more small mealls throughout the day (insted of one big meal for dinner which is my M.O.) I think it helped because I got on the scale today and it says that I lost 3 pounds.

Now, it's not the kind of weight loss I experienced the first time I did this 6 1/2 years ago (I lost about 4 1/2 pounds per week for the first 4 weeks back then.)

I'd really like to see some of that action again

So, looking back on this week I think the only thing I didn't do 100 % is the eating multiple meals through out the day. I managed to eat a little bit more often, here and there. A couple of days I did perfectly. But the rest of the days didn't quite meet the "don't go more than 6 hours without eating" requirement. So that's my goal this week

    Re: Update On Making Adjustments

You may want to sign up at fitday.com and track your food for a week or two. You can use fitday to determine your base metabolic rate which gives you a good idea of how many calories a day you should be shooting for. It also allows an opportunity (if you choose) to let someone take a look at your daily menu to suggest modifciations that might further help your efforts.

I know when I use fitday it helps me find hidden carbs (like cheese, mustard, pickles, etc) and helps keep me on track as far as eating enough food. I had slow weight loss last time I tried Atkin's but I think it may have been from not eating enough food and entering starvation mode!

I know if I had slow weight loss over 4 weeks, I'd be frustrated, so I applaud you on sticking with it through the rough times -- I'll have to think of your tenacity when I hit a slow few weeks!

Thank you Eric Ok, I've signed up for fitday.com and started a simple food log in a word document as well. I'm looking forward to sharing my menu and progress.

I just love the support people offer here. It really helps!

Kudos to you for not giving up!! Other things you may want to check your menu for...artificial sweetners, Atkin bars or shakes. Make sure you get your 2 cups of salad veggies and 1 cup other in too. So glad you didn't give up!!
