  • Scallops!

Had scallops this week (which for some reason I thought didn't have carbs) Found out on fitday.com that they have 4.14g per cup. I had a huge meal out of them one night (abt 2 1/2 cups). Luckily I had room for the 10.35 carbs that day, but that was just luck. I could have easily made the mistake of not counting those carbs and ended up over the 20 carb limit.

Thought I'd share in case anyone else out there didn't know about these scallop carbs either.

    Re: Scallops!

I love scallops. I could live on them. Fried up in a pan they are like dinner and dessert. I cut them in half so it looks like a lot more in the pan. ...2.5 cups! Wow.
Well now you know. Here's a scallop alternative that is just as sweet: smoky peppered bacon. Fitday the best - just got into it yesterday. I found out a few things when I went there, like my favorite hamburgers although plain are a lot of carbs - now I am eating sliced roast beef instead.

    Have a great day!

What?!? I think you chose "hamburger" from the list instead of "ground beef patty." The "hamburger" option MUST include the bun as there are NOT that many carbs in a plain hunk of meat.

That's what I was thinking, what do you pick in fitday.com for just the burger?
Beef, bacon, cooked, lean only eaten?

"ground beef" is the way I search for it. You have to be careful what you ask for with Fitday. There are several entries I have had to watch out for.

Not only do they have carbs, you are limited to four (4) ounces a day. Here's what Dr. A says about it:
Oysters and mussels are higher in carbs than other shellfish, so limit them to four ounces per day.

Just so you know, organ meats have carbs, so if you like liver, you are also limited to four ounces per day.
