  • can someone tell me why imnot losing any weight

    i have my menu posted in menu's section.

    I do all the right things. Its day 8 and i havent lost a pound. Its really making me frustrated and angry.

    I stayed away from all fruits and sugars. The only vegetables i eat is half a cucumber a day and 2 cups of lettuce. The rest is all no carb food. Meat and some cheese!

    Im seriously getting upset with myself. Did anyone experience any of that before ? It is making me feel down. However, i will stay with it untill something happens, if it ever does.

    I have a post in my menu and afew others here too.

    Without some more info it would be hard to point you in the right direction to fix your Atkins. you didn't say how much you need to lose or how much meat you are eating. Are you doing the mandatory exercise part of your Atkins? are you drinking enough water? Are you taking any meds?

      Our lead Administrator (Betty) went the entire 2 week Induction period without losing a pound. She eventually started losing and has been at goal weight for well over a year.

      Everyone's mileage will vary.

        What other information do u need to know ?

        What exactly is the mandatory exercise ?

        I need to lose 20 lbs.

        I eat lots of meat actually, today i ate a big nice plate of veal. And i am about to eat 2 burgers (no bread ofcourse or anuthing else, just the meat) that i made from a low carb recipe. ( half an onion, ground beef, made in the shape of a burger)


        I drink water and club soda. I stopped diet pepsi today.

        Please let me know if you can help me from youre experience.

        I would appreciate it.

          This diet is not just about meat, it is about fat too. Make sure the meat you eat is cooked in olive oil and/or butter. Serve it with mayo or in a cream/butter sauce. You HAVE to have the fat or you will not be working the plan to it's full potential.

          You need to make sure you are getting 65% Fat, 35% protien and 5% carbs daily. If you are eating just plates full of meat and 1/2 cucumber and a bowl of lettuce, that is not following Atkins. You need more variety in your veggies...... as you also need the fiber. Try brocolli, cauliflower, green beans, spinach/onions/mushrooms

          I just want to be sure you have read the book (Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution published in 2002). He talks about how exersise is not negotiable, it is as much a part of Atkins as is limiting carbs.

          Are you drinking all your water?? Taking your suppliments??? I see you were having diet pepsi until today. That stalls a LOT of people (aspartame and caffienne)

          It took me weeks to figure all of this out myself.......... that's what ADBB is all about

            Did you not post that you lost 2lbs last week?? You aren't really losing *nothing* are you???

            Put your scales away, eat your foods and more variety of veggies, drink the water (only water counts as water) and limit your cheese intake. DANDR allows for 3-4oz of cheese/day, but some people find it difficult to lose when eating cheese. And remember to add your FAT! Cheese is not a substitute for fat. (and it does contain carbs too)

            Don't worry about the scale for another week. That is just a number anyway and your weight fluctuates all day every day no matter what you eat.

              yeah i posten that i lost 2 lbs, but when i stepped on the scale earlier today it was gone!

              So for example instead of lettuce tommorow, i can eat a tomato? is that what u mean by variety?

              maybe no weight loss because i used to eat alot of cheese the past 8 days? more than 4 oz for sure. And also not exercising ??

              I will start using fitday to put in the closest thing to what im eating to get the percentages.

              I read the "weightloss is not linear" post and it made me feel alot better.

              P.S. What are the supplements ur talking about ?

              (i ordered the book and its on its way)

                  i have a question, it didnt happen, but if i et a piece of chocolate cake now will it extremely affect my induction that i have to start all over ? to day 1 of induction? i have a feeling i will stay on induction for more than 2 weeks.

                  Whats do u think ?
                  its 6 am here im thinkin of going to the gym.

                    hey, amr! I know you asked moochie this, but eating a piece of cake will SO totally set you back, yes. The whole point to this fabulastic way of eating is to abandon those unhealthy foods that made us overweight, overtired and underwhelmed with the world to begin with. If you eat something that is bad for you on ANY way of eating, you aren't going to be moving towards a healthier happier you! So please don't eat the cake. You'll be glad you didn't. Nothing tastes as wonderful as being thinner.

                      I did not eat the cake and i dont want to now.

                      I just came back from the gym. Spent 45 minutes. Feels good.

                      Where can i post about the exercise im doing and get feedback?

                        damn, i just ate fish and there was flour in it :raving i feel like ****.

                        Can i eat fish and shrimp? and no meat for one day?

                          fish and shrimp are meat. As for the flour, you didn't know, but now you know to really check labels and ask questions about what is in the food you are eating.

                          Just drink a lot of water and follow induction. You'll be fine, sweetheart! :hug

                          And way to go on not eating the cake AND for working out!

                            Atkins is a program of life style changes. you need to lower your carbs and cut out certain types of refined processed foods all together in your way of eating WOE and you need it increase your physical activity. Aerobic and resistance training are mandatory part of that life style change part. as Dr Atkins says in DANDR chapter 15 if you aren't exercising you aren't doing my program.

                            So what you doing as the exercise part of your Atkins program?

                            With 20 pounds to go you are not going to see a huge loss in induction like a super heavyweight does. 2 pounds for you is equal to 15 pounds for me when I started. you can expect to lose between 5-10% of your total amount needed to lose in the 14 days of induction based on your metabolic resistance rate. Hang in their you are getting healthier when you are correctly eating those 3 cups aday of those healthy Atkins induction acceptable veggies and you are getting smmaller as you shed the fat mass and add fatburning leanbody mass too.
