You can forget about 14 days. Once you start this, you will be amazed at how wonderful it feels. Not only physically when you loose 5-8 pounds, but mentally. I came from the point where you are now and I feel like a new person already, and it's only 5 days now! I wouldn't turn back now or in 14 days from now.

I used to eat whatever and whenever I wanted. I didn't even look at calories, fat, carbs, etc.. The Atkins diet was my worst nightmare. Whenever someone mentioned it, I didn't wanna hear it! I thought NO WAY I am giving up my foods. Breads, cookies, sweets.... but guess what? I don't even crave them anymore. I can look at sweets and actually think that I don't even want that. My diet and WOE is the first thing I think about now. And it now all comes naturally.
Give yourself a chance, it's only weight you'll be loosing.

The people here are wonderful! The devotion is heartwarming and inspiring.

It's going to get easy and you're going to feel ALOT better SOON. Matter of days. Do it! :hug

            Carotan,

It's fantastic that at the age of 16 your wise enough to understand how important it is to have good health both physically and emotionally...you're going to do just great.

Because you're very young chances are you have a vert reactive metabolism, chances are your body will respond to Atkins very quickly as opposed to an old geezer of 47 like me.

Now remember like Harleysprings told you - this WOL (way of life) this is your chance to reinvent yourself from always being fat and sad - to a new life of being slim and healthy.

And best of all it's not as hard as you may think, once you're on Atkins for a while you won't even be able to remember what eating any other way was like.

I hope you have the book - because this much is true, without the book chances are you'll fail it's that important. It's not complicated and boring in fact it's really an easy read and you can refer back to it over and over again.

You're going to succeed and do great...welcome aboard!

            Peter

At 15-16, you are awful young for any type of restrictive diet. Not saying you shouldnt do it, I was an overweight teenager too (actually in my teenage years I weighed about what you do now) and I know how it feels, but do go to the doctor first and get your bloodwork done. On any diet, thats really very important.

Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

There is a Atkins-type diet for teens and younger children. The book is called Feed Your Kids Well by Fred Pescatore MD. Dr. Pescatore wrote that book while he was the Associate Medical Director of the Atkins Center. From what Dr. Atkins foreword implies, the diet in Feed is what was being used for children and teens at the Atkins Center. You might want to look into that diet, as it's more nutritionally balanced than Atkins.

Also, before you go on any diet, you really should be seen by a physician. Moreover, you should be followed up by a physician during your weight loss. You're doctor saying "You need to lose weight" isn't enough. She/he needs to closely monitor your progress monthly at least.

gosh! you guys are so awesome! i feel excited and motivated already. :hug

i'm in no way new to atkins and my step father is a doctor, so don't worry about me getting checked out he's the one who mentioned it to my mom when she started trying to get healthy a few years ago. the thing is, lately because of mardi gras, valentines day, and my birthday, i've just kind of let myself go and stopped worring about what i've been eating or how uch i've exercised. i've been clean for a day now and i'm already startign to feel like myself again.

my little sister is also a great help. she and i did situps together and then went running after school. <3 she's awesome.

OH! and thankx for telling me about the online journal! i'm sure that will really help me a great deal aswell.

anyway, you have no idea how much this has boosted me up. you guys are truly inspiring and wonderful.
