Ketosis question....I am frustrated!

  • Ketosis question....I am frustrated!

    Hey all! I am in Day 12 of Induction and I took my reading this evening and it said TRACE (VERY LIGHT PEACH) Last time I checked it read MODERATE (Dark Pinkish Purple) I have had a clean induction and wanted to know what are some reasons I could be out of Ketosis! Is there any hints to get my body back there? Thank you all for your responses in advance!! Look forward to hearing from you soon.

    The stick gets lighter the more you drink water. So it could show trace because you've had a lot of water to drink today. =)

      So is drinking this much water a bad thing? Or is it just diluting the results? If it is just diluting the results, then I will just stop checking with the ketostix! Thanks for responding...I was starting to think my body is ABNORMAL!

        Lol. It dilutes the stick, yes. I couldn't think of the word right now. I got bothered as soon as I replied. =) But I usually check the ketostix in the morning after not having had water for 8 hours. More accurate that way.

            my approach to the ketostix is that as long as I am showing even a slight change... it means I am in ketosis... I have done a clean inductioin except for diet pop and depending on my activity level I can swing from deep red to faint pink... and water definitley makes a difference. your ketones should register if even slight. I swear by them... it keeps me in check... be concerned if there is no colour change at all...
            also I had prevoiously suggested cutting the strips in half... now I am thinking that is not such a good idea... it seems whatever they treat the tips with may not be on both halves when they are cut inhalf leaving us in dismay... so I won't do that again... they are not that expensive and I limit myself to two a day so I spend about 10$ per month on them...

              I have done it every other day (at night) and besides 2 days ago, I am usually in a very light pink color. I do drink at least 100 ounces of water a day though...I will try using them in the morning like Esteliana suggested. If I do not notice a change in color, I will be back with more questions! Thank you for your input Kathy, I really appreciate all the support these boards offer!!

                I read on another website that being in ketosis is like being pregnant... you either are or aren't!

                If its a trace or deep purple it means your in ketosis... like someone else said the colour is pretty dependant on how hydrated you are!

                  Everyone is different, some people get better results in the morning, some in the afternoon. But if you show trace you are still in ketosis. As someone just said you either are or you aren't. Also some of the people who have lost the most on this board have said they don't use the sticks and could never get them to change at all, but obviously were in ketosis. The only time I would worry is if they don't change and you don't lose for some time. I use them myself, primarily when I have eaten out or am not sure of a hidden ingredient. If I go completly out, I know there were some hidden carbs that I did not identify.

                    Those stix rarely change for me. I drink a TON of water, especially at night. The best reading I can get is a trace and I mean it is light even with that.
