Today is my 3rd day on atkins and I've lost 5 lbs???? How is this possible!?!

early on you lose some water as well as fat. When you start you are likely reducing your sodium intake as well as carbs so the water falls away. Also, your body is detoxing so it releases the toxins by flushing your system and the water has to go somewhere. But rest assured you are losing fat too. It is entirely possible. Many folks (first timers especially) have dramatic losses the first week and sometimes the second, too. Then you may stall or slow down for a few weeks. Your body needs to readjust itself since you have shocked it so badly.
After that you may lose steadily or you may lose in starts and stops (that's me usually- 2 weeks nothing, then boom 4 lbs.) but you will lose inches if not pounds.
Sounds like you are off to a terrific start so enjoy it!

I lost an inch around my waist after a day and a half, so 5 lbs in 3 days sounds totally feasible! and AWESOME! good for you!the big atkins re-start on july 14/08...

Enjoy the ride to losing the pounds! But make sure you put the scale away for another week before you check--it can get mighty dangerous reading it every day and seeing the weight fluctuations

I know not to take what my scale says serious on a daily basis, as I will do my real weigh-in week to week.. however.. LOL .. I have to say I'm lovin the scale today!! I lost 5lbs after day 1 of induction!! hahaha Yeah ok.. We shall see if it stays off over the course of the week.
Curious though.. what are some things you may have tried in regards to replacing milk in say scrambled eggs? Does anyone use cream? If so how much and what type?

i have cut out the dairy in my eggs completely, and just put a dab of butter on them once they are cooked.
i made quite possibly the best hard boiled eggs i've ever had last night though.. YUMMY!!!
i'm in love with my scale for the first time in my life.. lol.. 10 lbs! wooot!!

I just use a little water instead. I like it better, they seem fluffier and lighter than with milk. I read in a cookbook once that water is better in scrambled eggs where milk was better for the firmer texture of an omelet so I was using water long before Atkins. After adding water, I whip them until really frothy and turn them frequently as they cook.

I add nothing except butter to scrambled eggs, but I do add some double cream (heavy cream in USA) to omelettes.Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
