How often should you weigh yourself in order to not get discouraged??? I thought I lost 5 lbs and then woke up this morning and weighed 3 lbs more than I did yesterday. I am only on day 4 of induction.

And how much water should I be drinking???

stay off the scale as much as possible. I have not been on a scale in 3 months.
Its too much pressure. A good weigh in can trick you into more carbs. a bad weigh in can cause you to give up.
When I first started I was wearing 52 pants, I am now in 42 pants.
Trust me in my opinion every scale in the world must be stopped and destroyed.
Measurements are so much more important than weight.
Good luck and never give up!

Stay OFF The scale. That is the enemy. Shouldnt weigh yourself more than once a week I feel. Otherwise you'll go nuts over your daily losses and/or gains trying to figure where they came from. God Bless,Joe

I haven't seen that happen. But if you can keep in mind that food in your system matters (and makes matter) until it passes or is used, you'll be fine. Focus on how you feel right now with cleaning out your system with the veggies and eating the right carbs. Drink your water and make sure you're exercising and watching your salt intake (that's a culprit for women).

              Take care and play hard!

I agree with jimmy - measurements are more important. I barely pay attention to my weight anymore - just my measurements and my body fat percent.
                These threads might be helpful:

With regards to the water, its so important to drink your water, especially during induction. Induction is like a detox period - you are flushing out all the caffeine, aspartame, sugar, flour, etc out of your body, as well as ketones (the by-products of fat burning.) 8 glasses a day is the absolute minimum. I try to drink at least 10. Its hard to get t down at first but after a while you will find you crave it. It aslo helps to keep you regular which can be an issue for people just starting out. Good luck!

Not trying to be too TMI-ish, but in the mornings, I usually don't weigh myself until after I have a bowel movement. Also, Dr. Atkins mentioned in his book not to put too much faith in the scale, but more so on measuring yourself. Like Less said, weigh at the beginning of induction then at the end. I can't lie, I weigh myself almost everyday, but I do so in the morning after I have a BM. I did bad the last 3 days but I'm still holding steady.
