    I started Atkins on Sunday AM. According to the Atkins board, the body can only hold a 2 day supply of glucose in the body and so then Ketosis should start.

    I have those analysis strips and I just used one. It didn't change color at all. Not even a smidgin. WHY have I not started ketosis yet? (It's been 2.5 days) I haven't cheated and I have been VERY careful not to go over 20g of carbs.

    eg. I had a couple of eggs for breakfast each day. Lunch was tinned salmon, sardines or mackeral. with about 6 slices of cucumber.

    Dinner has been a little shrimp or chicken fried in olive oil or butter. with 6 asparagus spears and a few mushrooms. In addition I've had splenda sweetened soda, decaf tea or coffee. For snack, I've had up to 5-6 olives a day. That's it. I don't understand it. urplequ: :no :confused

    are you sure you are eating enough...punch your numbers into fitday.com to make sure you are staying within the right ratios for fat/cals/carbs...

      Agree with hulagirl. Open a fitday.com account to track your menu.

      Also, Atkins is a high fat diet, not a high protein one. Shrimp, chicken and fish are relatively low in fat. It's okay to eat these foods, but you'll have to add the fat back into your diet.

      Roughly 65% of your daily calories should be from fat, 35% from protein and 5% from carbs.

      Also, read the FAQ board about ketostix. Some people never turn a stick color and they are still burning fat.

        And don't get hung up on those strips cause they can be as evil as the scale. For many folks they never register and they still lose weight. Also, like the ladies said above, if your not eating enough, you body will hold onto the fat and not release it.

          ROFL - Boy, no one has ever asked me if I'm eating enough before!!! Thank you!

          But yeah, I'm probably eating enough. The fit day is a great idea and I set up an account. On average, I'm eating about 1500 cals. About 60g fat and about 10-15 carbs.

          Even though the shrimp and chicken are not high fat, I am frying them in olive oil and dipping the shrimp in butter. Matter of a fact I had both tonight with some lettuce and 2 carbs worth of dressing.

          My belly is rumbling right now which is a disgrace as I ate plenty but I'm not what you'd say starving. My body probably is too used to me grazing between meals which I'm not doing (other than the odd olive) A cup of tea ought to do it.

          I've had some cravings but have withstood the temptation. I even cooked home made mac & cheese for my son without picking at it.
