  • day 7 of first week

My DH and I started last tuesday, stepped on the scale today and am down 4.5 and he is down 5. We have stuck to the plan. With the summer weather and grilling the meals have been pretty easy to stick to. The hardest thing was missing out a wine tasting we were planning on attending. We went for a bike ride instead.

I have had some induction symptoms, fatigue, occ dizziness, frequent urination, and headache, but all mild. My DH hasn't had any of these, but I am more of a carb addict. My college age daughter started with us too but she went with friends to chicago and needs to restart. Hopefully our success will be an encouragement. She's not convinced this can be healthy.

I ordered the book and am getting my info from this site 'till it comes. Thanks to all who post here it is really helpful.

That is so AWESOME! You have made it a family affair. I wish you success. BTW, if you have not considered doing some type of exercise, please do! It will dramatically speed up the weight loss, especially during Induction!

congrats on the whole family starting atkins. for your daughter you can direct her to the recent (last week) news reports on a 2 year study of low fat/ low carb vs. another diet.. and the people on the low carb clearly lost the most and also lowered cholesteral etc etc ... proof! my advice, read everything you can here and ask questions and get encouragment and advice... you can do it !

Thanks for the encouragement. Just had a talk with my daughter about the health aspects of the whole thing. She didn't completely stay with induction while gone, but made healthy choices and was down 4 lbs for the week, so I think she is still on board. We measured ourselves, and talked about the family weight issues we saw at last weeks family reunion. I know some people have a more to lose than me, but even a half pound weight lose has always been huge struggle for me in the past. I have always felt that I have a very slow metabolism. I do exercise 3-5 times weekly but intend to mix things up (weight trainnig ect...). Once again thanks for all the encouragement. I going to go try to speed clean my house.
