Hello, I'm on day 3 of induction. I weighed myself, and I have not lost any weight at all. I have been eating 3 meals a day. So far, I have had eggs w/ a little cheese in the morning, tuna mixed with kraft mayo and lettuce for lunch, and chicken or steak for dinner. I have been drinking around 10 glasses of water a day. I have not been drinking anything except water. Should I have lost at least 1 lb by now? I have been reading through the FAQ's and other posts. I'm going to add some more induction veggies to my diet in a couple days when I can get to the grocery store. Thanks for your time.

Re: Day 3 induction.
Sometimes you won't lose anything for four or five days and then drop several at once. Definitely eat the veggies. That seems to get things moving and without them you may end up with digestion issues. Also try to weigh once a week. It is less frustrating. Weight loss will not be linear. You will bob up and down. This week I have been weighing in daily to see what effect processed meats are having on my water weight. I have been up 2, down 1.5, up 3, down 3.2, and today I was back where I started the week before my walk and two pounds down, after I walked. (This is exaclt why I usually weigh in once a week).
If you haven't taken measurements, do so. They are a far better indicator than the scale. And looking and feeling better is more important than a number on a scale.

Re: Day 3 induction.
I like lettuce and cauliflower, bell peppers, and I like celery with cream cheese. Can I just eat these veg.? I don't know what some of the veg. listed are, so I can't say, if I like em or hate em. Also, I have been super thirsty. I seem to be eating larger portions then I did before. I ate 5 eggs yesterday. Can I eat that much and still expect to see weight loss?
ADD: This is kind of high on the eww..factor, but I read on here people have problems with constipation, however, I seem to have diarrhea. Is this normal?Last edited by cyndi31; July 22, 2008, 09:22 AM.

Re: Day 3 induction.
Hi!
ALL kinds of digestion troubles are normal during the first days on Atkins. I had diarrhea for about 10 days, then my switch flipped the other way. I think my body was kind of in shock. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just make sure you're hydrated, and think about seeing a doc if the diarrhea doesn't go away.
Best of luck!

Re: Day 3 induction.
Sounds like you are doing induction right!
remember your best questions are also answered in the book!
2-3 days or sometimes 4-- for 2 things to happen--- to use up the already stored glucose--and your metabolism switching to fat burning one.
Dr A was hoping you have not had a lot of the veggie's on his list!
you are in for a treat! try them, make yourself some great salads!
2 cups a day! and try the other's for your one cup of non-salad veggie..
so many recipe's here for you to try also!

Re: Day 3 induction.
I read the book in 2000, but I don't remember much of what I read. I am going to buy the book today. Yesterday I ate 3 scrambled eggs with cheese, steak with broccoli and cheese 7 carbs, 8 dill pickle slices, and 4 eggs with mayo. Still no weight lose. I'm going to the grocery store today to get some veggies, and to the book store. Thanks for the advice. You guys are geat!

Re: Day 3 induction.
wow-your doing this from memory? your gonna rock this induction!
once you do it DR A's way your results will make you happy!
I cleaned the house of all non induction food and stocked enough for the 2 week induction--started a Sloooooooooooooow, but steady excercise plan
and used tape measure and scale--and laid out basic recipes..
be careful of pickles--Brine they are in is Syrup and salt, cheese should be 3-4 oz of soft firm cheeses--mayo should be 100% no additives--
OH--you need the book first!! so you know what to buy from the list of veggie's! take you time--plan it out--then start--you will WIN!Male/46

Re: Day 3 induction.
I just got back from the store, and they did not have the Atkins book. All they had was south beach, and the egg diet. I'm going to order the book from amazon, but it will take almost a month to get here. I'm kinda bummed out about that. Does anyone ever drink crystal lite?

Re: Day 3 induction.
I won't drink it then. I actually took a drink of it, and did not care for it at all, so it will be no hardship thats for sure..lol. All the veggies I got are on the induction food list, bell peppers, celery, bokchoy, lettuce, cucumber, mushrooms, cauliflower, canned all natural pumpkin. Everything else is meat, eggs, pork rhines, chicken broth, and cheese. I don't feel like I'm starving today, and I did not drool at all over the foods I can't have at the grocery store. All the mayo's at the grocery store said 0 carbs, but they all had sugar listed in the ingredients. So, that sucks. I think I will mix soy sauce and butter together like someone said they do on this forum. Also, is fresh garlic and curry powder ok to use when I cook?

Re: Day 3 induction.
Garlic and curry powder are fine for cooking.
Be careful on the mayo -- I see Kraft has some sugar as do most of the brands out there. Here in the south we have a brand called Duke's which is sugar free and tastes fantastic. If you must use a sugary one, just be aware of how much you use -- my mother made me egg salad the other day when I was visiting and I was astounded at how much mayo she added! It was good, but I worry about the number of carbs I ingested that day!
Looks like your grocery list is spot on. Give yourself a full two weeks on plan before checking the scales and I'm certain you will see results! Having read several similar threads over the past few weeks, I am a firm believer that the anxiety of a change in numbers on a scale is detrimental to your weight loss efforts. I may have to conduct a study...Eric
