  • Induction - soups, breads etc..

    Hi all again,

As lovely this site is, there is so much information that I am getting lost here...

My question is can i have soups and 'fake' breaks from the low carb websites while i am on the induction? Obviously I would stick to 20g carb allowance.

    Many thanks for your help.

Eligura, check what is in the recipe. As long as all the ingredients are allowed on induction, you're ok. Oopsie rolls are GREAT! I was missing my bun with my burgers, but no more So just watch your ingredients and keep track of the carbs!

I don't recommend it. Most of your daily carbs should come from veggies.

What ever you decide to eat should BE on the list of allowed things to eat during induction

If you keep the ingredients of your soup and "bread" within the parameters of this list you are fine. I think it is fine to eat some creamed (homemade) veggie soups or a chicken broth soup if you like that. Make sure you pay attention to how many cups of salad veggies and other veggies you are allowed.

The same rule is true for "bread": The ingredients have to be induction legal and you should not go over your allotted allowance of cheese or cream.

Personally I found it easier to do soups on the veggie rung of the diet. I like to eat veggies with all meals and soups can easy get a bit carby.

Just remember, you need to read the ingredients to see if they are Induction Legal. AND you must only eat those ingredients within Induction limits. For example, if a recipe says to use 1/4 cup of flaxmeal for 1 serving, it's not Induction legal because 1 tablespoon is the flax limit for Induction---unless you're using the flax to relieve your constipation. The ingredient might be legal, but the amount isn't.

There are foods with daily limits such as heavy cream, cheese, lemon or lime juice. So you need to remain within those daily limits.

They are the "alternative" Atkins Revolution Rolls. See the sticky induction basic recipes thread.

You may be talking to Megs here but for my part I do not get bored. Right around now I don't remember that I am on a diet most days. I find my food very satisfactory. These days my menu looks something like this. (I am on rung 6 right now)

                    Breakfast
1 homemade flax muffin with some butter
Yogurt with blueberies and/or strawberries with some roasted almonds on top
A small glass of soy milk (and all supplements)

                    Lunch:
Chef salad premaid to take to work in my mini cooler.
(It has lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, celery. redpepper, romaine, chicken, bacon and eggs. I eat it with some mayo.) (Some days I do beans and avocado salad in stead with lime and olive oil)

                    Supper:
Meat or fish with a veggie. Yesterday it was ribs with a big serving of ceasar salad (no crutons though)

Snacks: Usually almonds, jicama or berries. Some days I may have a small piece of sugar free or very low sugar chocolate. I have made cheese cake sometimes. Very decadent but really good.

On really hot days I may replace a meal or part of a meal with a protein shake (with cream, protein powder, decaf and cocoa powder) Or I make a smoothie with berries, soy milk and ice cubes.

I drink water, carbonated water, decaf and soy milk. I can sometimes have a bit of milk and some evening a glass of red wine.
                    I live the good life.
