Re: Tomato Juice?
On INduction, if I remember right, we aren't supposed to have any juice. I love V8 and looked at it the other day and it has 11 sugars/11net carbs. I know it's all from veggies. There isn't any sugar or anything. I don't know if no juice means fruit juice or both fruit and veggie... V8 has Tomato, carrot, celery, beets, parsley, lettuce, watercress, spinach salt and water. Someone who knows more than me may have to chime in here

Re: Tomato Juice?
Juice is essentially sugar water with flavoring (veggie or fruit). It lacks fiber and is often boosted by added salt and added sugars.
Juice isn't allowed during Induction.~Megs~

Re: Tomato Juice?
Hi,
If you like really cold tomato juice, try this out:
In a blender put canned whole tomatoes and ice. Blend until it looks like a slurpee. Yummy - tomato slurpee - I wish 7-11 would start selling these.
I do not drink these anymore because I have a difficult time having just a little bit. I want a big glass full which is way to carby for me. I am looking forward to having a small one of these occasionally on rung one and maintenance.
Careful with what brand of canned tomato you buy, some have sugar. 1/2 cup canned tomato and a few ice cubes will give you a small tomato slurpee for about 4 carbs. If you are on induction, I would wait to try this until you are on rung 1.

Re: Tomato Juice?
I am uessing you *could* if you followed the portion reccomendation - but it's going to be a TINY amount since 3 oz has 5 carbs. Also it would be best to measure fresh tomatos and then put them in a blender. That way you can control the salt and quality. I would wait till week three and then use it as your *5 extra carbs* per day. I love homeade tomato juice too...it just doesn't love mesigpicErika: 32y/oF, 5'8" start Atkins 6/22/08 201.6
