    Hi there,

First of all i would like to say that the "muffin in a minute" has to be the greatest thing since sliced bread . I left out the cinnemin (sp bad) because i wanted it to be savoury not sweet and i had it with cheddar cheese thismorning. I am stuffed and it was lovely!

I am confused about sugar! Every sweetner i see has aspartame in it! Can i use this... I know its not recomended but is it a massive problem if i do use it?

Also i was told that yesterday i ate very little food even though i had been eating all day!

Breakfast: 2 slices of bacon, 3 eggs scrambled and a cup of decaf coffee with half tsp sweetner.

Lunch: 6 medium slices of cucumber, 3 slices of cheddar, 2 boiled eggs with some butter.

Dinner: 1 beef burger with 3 florettes of brocoli and half a muffin in a minute for desert.

I drank about 6 bottles of water and did some aerobics for half an hour.

Looking at this, Am i doing things right? anything you would change? have less or more of?

Thanks a mil for your help as i am so new to this any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Not enough vegetables in your menu.

During Induction we eat 3 cups (measure it in a measuring jug: one cup is the 250 ml mark) of the allowed vegetables daily.

Aspartame has been known to cause weight loss slow downs or stops weight loss, so Dr. Atkins removed it from the allowed sweetener list. Saccharin and sucralose are acceptable.

I'm not sure what the ingredients for the muffin is, however, if it used flaxmeal (linseed) or wheat bran or psyllium husk, the Induction "legal" amount for those fiber supplements is 1-2 tablespoons.

      Hi there,

I added more salad in today.. for lunch today i had, peppers, onion, cucumber, 2 boiled eggs some grated cheese about an ounce and a small dollop of mayo a slice of ham and a slice of turkey.

The muffin calls for a quater cup of flaxseed, 1 egg, 1 tsp of splenda and 1/2 tsp of baking powder.

I will try to add more veggies but was worried i would go over my carb limit....

Ill get there with dinner tonight and up my portions of brocoli and cauliflower.

      thanks for the advice

If that muffin recipe makes 1 muffin, it's over the Induction limits for flaxmeal and should be reserved for On-Going Weight Loss Phase.

Just remember: the ingredients have to be "legal" as do the amounts of the ingredients.

          Hi Megs

I am so down after finding out that ive had over the "legal" limit of flax. I saw the recipe under an article of what was suitable for induction.

Will this affect me reaching ketosis?

              Re: Confuzzled

I ate those muffins all during induction and was always in ketosis. I didn't know we were not allowed that much flax seed till My induction was almost done. But I also have made them with two tablespoons and they have been fine, maybe a tiny bit smaller.

                Hi Guys,

I was on the atkins website under the message boards and the have a sticky with tips for newbies on induction...The recipe for the muffins were there with a note - suitable for induction. The lady who posted these tips seems to be an Atkins veteran so I assumed this was okay. 1/4 cup couldnt be much more than 2 tablespoons anyway depending on the cup size! She also had posted a recipe for flax pancakes which called for 3/4 cup of flax and said it was suitable for induction without the added fruit!

Ahh all this can get very confusing as I am really trying to do a clean induction.

I didnt make the muffin this morning and will have scrambled egg instead and try the muffin tomorrow with 2 tbsp of flax.

Third day today and although i am not feeling as bloated as i normally would I dont feel i have lost anything. (not stepping on a scales until i am on induction 1 wk) I thought i would feel my jeans looser today but nothing obvious. Although my mum said my face looked thinner yesterday and bf said i looked well this morning so I suppose something is happening!

I agree, it is confusing that the Atkins company doesnt follow the rules as closely as we do here.

But we all made mistakes at first, and as long as you learn from them and correct what you are doing I am sure you will soon be a loser!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

                    Re: Confuzzled

there are 16 tbsp in a cup. so 1/4 cup=4 tbsp. It can't really depend on the cup size, because a cup is a unit of measurement. in the US anyway, a cup is a cup is a cup. cup=8oz=16tbsp.

2tbsp (the recommended daily max for induction) is 1/8th cup.

The reason it's stated that you're not to go over 2tbsp, is because it can make you stall or gain weight. Also, flax is used to relieve constipation, but too much flax can CAUSE constipation, and if you're eating it at all, you've got to be pounding the water.
