  • Atkins 2nd time, can you lose same weight as before?

I went on Atkins a couple of years ago and lost 20 pounds the first month, then I thought I could do it going low fat. I gained it all back plus some. I have been on and off again a couple of times. Never longer than a week.

Now I am determined to stay at it this time, so what I want to know is the ones who have done it a second time or more. Does it take longer to lose the weight?

    :wave :wave hey there,
glad you came back to this WOL and welcome to ha , there are plenty of people here who are doing it the second time round. I am one of those people. I'm back for good. Now i would advise you if you have not already done this is to set up a fitday.com account. It is free and helps y9ou keep track of what your eating. Also do measure yourself for you dont want to be relying on the weighing scale alone to show weight loss.
Second time round should be easier. Aks any questions that you may have. Good luck and keep at it. :hug :hug :hug

      Hi!

Welcome to the Board - I had a similar experience as I was on Atkins years ago, lost 40 pounds, went off the program and of course gained back every pound I lost plus an additional 30.

I lose weight pretty slowly and it seems even slower this time around. But although my body and health have changed for the worse, my perspective and mind set have changed for the better.

I now fully understand that this isn't a diet, it's a way of life so immediate results although nice aren't particularly important - not in the long run. Because your metabolism may not be what it was a few years ago you might not see the same results as quickly as you did before. But don't let that discourage you one bit. Just stay the course and that weight will come off - guaranteed.

The more you yoyo on this way of the eating the more it will affect your body, yes. As with any way of eating and any addiction, to overdo restarting induction is wreaking a toll on your metabolism and bloodstream, not to mention it does become more difficult to get restarted again.

So stick with it. The cravings are temporary (you're detoxing), the psychological issues of food addiction can be treated (there's nothing wrong with seeing a professional if personal issues and psychological issues need to be dealt with), and the weight loss is worth it!

No matter what WOE we're following, to eat what we're not supposed to does hurt us in the long run. So stop hurting and give me a *hip bump for success*
