  • Sugar Free Sausage???

I am having a heck of a time finding breakfast sausage without any sugar in it. I finally thought I found one: Applegate Farms: Chicken & Sage Sausage

BUT they use cane juice instead of sugar...

    Isn't that still sugar though???

    And I'm looking for pork!

I bought Jimmy Deans because it has 1 sugar in it = 1 carb but I'll wait until after induction to eat it because of that... I WANT SOME SAUSAGE!!!!

I had this problem too. FINALLY I found just 1 in the area that had no sugars in it, its Bob Evans sausage. One of the local stores just had a sale on it, so I stocked up

Many german-style sausages (like bratwurst) are just meat and spices.
I bought an unopened sausage making kit at a charity shop last year so now I grind up whatever meat and make my own!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

I think I'll stick to store bought.... after induction. My family raised bulls and pigs for food when I was growing up and although it tastes so much better and is so much better for you, my little kitchen and I can't handle that I only have about 2 feet of counter space and keep my pots/pans in the oven and have to put my mixer/blender etc on the couch in order to cook lol... man I need a new kitchen!

                Re: Sugar Free Sausage???

I've been trying to find something around here too. I'll have to watch for Bob Evans. I'd linke the little links in casing. I make homeade fresh Polish sausage. I grew up in the chicago area and we had it all the time....but here I can't find it fresh - only the smoked sausage labeled "polish" and thats NOT the real deal So two or three times a year we make it. But I dread the though of making the tiny ones AND last time I made a breakfast sausage I didn't like the seasonings and then had 20lbs of it. ggrrrrr.

Also, Frick's ham has no sugar (I know it's not sausage - but while we are on pork )

                    Re: Sugar Free Sausage???

                    Hi,

Don't count on the nutrition label to see if a product has sugar, you have to read the ingredients. Companies are allowed to round down to zero on carb counts.

Johnsonville Homestyle Breakfast Patties do have a bit of sugar in them:

For most this will not make a difference. For me, I do not buy it if if has any sugar in it.

                    Val

Yeah that's the Jimmy Deans issue... I was eating it until I read the ingredients... Now I'll have to skip it until later
