    hey everybody,

    Im on day 10 of atkins diet and i just got my jeans from the laundry and it fits ok. I alittle tight but only because it just came out of the laundry!

    I feel 20% happier now.

    I also weighed myself today (day 10) and i think i lost like 3 lbs. I hope they dont creep up again! :yes

    Do you think if i follow atkins but eat small amounts, i will still lose? cause im not hungry most of the time now. Unlike 2 weeks back!!!

    any thoughts? Maybe because i only need to lose 20 lbs thats why im having slow weight loss? thats what i heard from someone here.

      Hi! :wave

      Congrats of your success! If your not feeling hungry why not try breaking the diet down into eating 4 or 5 smaller meals during the day? That seems to work for many people who either have to much of an appetite like myself...or not enough of one.

      Just don't avoid carbs altogether or fall below your necessary 20 grams of carbs (from veggies) or your body can go into starvation mode and your weight loss will stall.

      Before you know it that 20% happier will turn into 100%!

        With only 20 pounds to lose (and honey that's a problem I'd love to have), you will lose more slowly, yes. The bright side? You're already well on your way to the other 80% happiness!

          im a bit confused about the starvation mode thing, how do i avoid it?

          I think most days i eat less than 15 carbs i never go up. All in the form of vegetables and cheese.

              I usually stay well below 20 carbs, and I have been losing very sucessfully. I am mindful not to eat too few calories though. Its true, you dont need to count calories on atkins, but I try to keep myself in that 2000 range. The larger you are the more calories you need, and I also have a very physically demanding job, so I burn alot of calories there too.

              You may need to eat more smaller meals if you are finding you dont have an appetite. You definately need to consume food to be sucessful on this diet.

                there is a great free site that you can join called www.fitday.com.

                At fitday you can figure your fats, proteins and carbs that you have eaten for the day. Give it a try and you will know exactly what your carbs , and so much more.

                eating the atkins WOE we are supposed to eat 65% fats, 30% protein and 5% carbs. We are to eat around 20 carbs daily, mostly from veggies. Remember you can subtract your fiber carbs from your total carbs.


                go to this site and it explains what is correct amount of calories you should be eating . It is figured by your age, your height, your sex. Take a look.
