  • One week since starting - Update

Well, last Sat. I started Atkins again since coming off of it years ago. I've felt really good this past week since getting back to eating this way.

Lastnight when I weighed myself, I learned that I lost 12 lbs during this first week. I'm pretty excitted about that! I jumped on the scales this morning and learned that I've lost another two pounds....so in total I've lost 14lbs in 8 days. I'm feeling excellent and things are going well....I just have to get the exercise going again. Prior to starting up again on Atkins, my husband and I had been walking almost daily....time to get into doing that again....I've had a break from it for 2 weeks which I know is not helpful.

I have a challenge with some of the foods due to severe food allergies (like milk products such as cheese, sour cream, butter etc..) so I have not included those in my list of foods to eat. I've been mostly eating beef and chicken and turkey as well as the veggies that the intro. period allows for as well as olive oil and of course water. I also started on some suppliments.

Thought I would just check in and post an update.

    Have a great day everyone!

Thank you! yes, it's a pretty amazing way of eating. I feel I have a lot more energy now and I'm continuing to lose the weight I need to. From April to just a few weeks ago I lost 51 lbs however, that's as far as I could get with the other way I was accomplishing weight loss, I then gained 8 to 10 lbs of that back and kept yo-yo'ing between those 8 to 10 lbs. I started to panic and felt like I was heading for another crash with regards to falling away from trying.

I'm so glad my husband suggested that I go back to trying Atkins. I have now lost the 8 to 10 lbs that I had gained and on top of that lost a few more pounds. I'm feeling very hopeful with regards to the weight I have to still lose.

Re: One week since starting - Update

Thank you everyone! I'm pretty thrilled with how I'm feeling and of course the weight loss itself. I jumped on the scales again this morning and I'm down another pound so that makes it 15 lbs now since last Sat. (I’m even in the middle of my TOM, so experiencing this weight loss while going through my TOM have been quite motivating)

Elizabeth congratulations on your weight loss, well done! Give yourself a big pat of the back and keep it up...it's working and it will continue to work for you!!!!

Tina, way to go!!!! You're doing great, hang in there and keep coming to this forum it's been a real help to me both for information, encouragement and support....I have appreciated it greatly! I wish you an enjoyable and exciting 3rd day that you are coming up on…keep up the great work!

Lisa, you're absolutely right...I have to get back to exercising. I would like to get out on a walk this evening....I hope I can do that! Exercise is crucial to becoming healthy and fit….it’s something that is a must…I have to get back into it!

Tanya, I have about 170 – 175 more pounds to go. Last year I was staring 400 lbs in the face and decided I had to get some weight off which I managed to do but gained most of it back (thankfully I was able to keep some of it off). Then April of this year rolled around and decided I absolutely had to get the rest of the weight off. I lost 51 lbs between this April and June but started to yo yo back and forth within 8 to 10 lbs and started to feel like I was spinning out of control. My husband encouraged me to start eating the Atkins way (I had years ago but fell away from it sadly). I then started Atkins last Saturday and lost the weight I was yo yoing back and forth with as well as some additional weight…that has been very motivating! So now, I am heading closer to entering into the 200 lb range…a range I have not been in for many years. However, now that I am living a different way by being on Atkins, I know I can make my goal now. I’m 5’8 so I’m thinking maybe 155 lbs would be healthy for me. I would be thrilled to reach 165-170 though.

I’m just taking each day at a time.
