  • ARGH!!!

    :help OK, so tomorrow I have a very posh 3 course meal black-tie (formal) function. What do I do? I have to leave home at 3pm so I cant eat at home before, and I dont want to look rude by not eating anything. Anyone got any suggestions? I have now lost 9 pounds, but dont want to put them all on again in one night - on the other hand I dont want to starve by not eating - lol

    Any suggestions??!!

    Hi there-well I would suggest eating before and you wont be rude by not eating just say that your alergic to something or that you dont feel to well, you have a headache etc..
    Dont feel obligated to eat ANYTHING thta is not on the induction safe list. maybe take a purse with some peperoni or somthing in it so if u get hngury there you can slip outside and eat some. good luck and have fun, and remember that you are doing great so far and you do not want to do ANYTHING to mess it up

      Can you contact the venue and ask to speak to the catering manager or kitchen supervisor?
      If you were diabetic or of a religion which had special dietary requirements you would expect them to be able to help you with the choice so ask them what options they have that will be OK to eat.
      Also make a copy of the wallet sized list of acceptable foods http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ic.php?t=66739
      so you can check you choose the right foods!

        That's a great idea, to call and see what the menu is. :yes If you eat before you go, carry some snacks discreetly in your purse, you'll probably be able to eat 'around' your servings and pick out only what is legal to you.
        As someone mentioned, if you are questioned as to why you haven't finished your food, just say that your stomach is a little upset. It can be easier all the way around to say that than to start telling everyone about being on Atkins.

          Although pepperoni sounds better as a snack to fit in your purse, I would take a cheese stick or some other non-greasy food. And, I would eat a light meal before 3. Drink lots of water with your meal, that should help you fill up.

            Very good advice! I agree... find out what you are having and plan your menu around it. I went to a great corporate party and was thrilled to have shrimp and crablegs and salad! YUMMMMY

              There has to be something on the menu that had lips at some time!

              Look for it. Embrace it. If there are sauces, scrape them off. Also, look for the good veggies from Tammy's induction list. Sneak this in your bustier and slip a peek just to make sure.


              Shhhhhhhhhhhhhh.... I won't tell! ;^)

                I agree with everybody. I actually had to do this one time in my previous attempts. I actually put some things in my purse and then excused myself to the bathroom and ate! When I came back, I drank only water and lucky-ducky, there was veggies so I ate them. Like Ztachick said, if they ask you why you don't eat such and such, say you are allergic and you break out in hives (better, because then they would really leave you alone!) and don't let them talk you into dessert. Don't let other people ruin your WOE because you don't want to be rude. SOme people can really be insistant but just say firmly, if they insist, "NO thank you. I prefer not to." And I am sure, since it is a 3 course meal, there will be meat that you can eat and veg, so just eat that.
