  • Is my Ceasar Dressing a NO GO?

I'm currently using Kraft classic ceasar for my salads...it has 2g carbs per serving. Tonight I was reading the ingredients and there is 1g of sugar in it...is it okay to use still? The first ingredient listed is soybean oil. I'm just not sure if I should stop using it. My choices for dressings are limited b/c I currently live in Japan! Will this 2grams of sugar a day affect me?

during induction we should be avoiding any sugar that isn't naturally in the foods on the list of induction safe foods. I understand the dressing being limited, but I personally would just go for oil/vinegar (not balsamic it has sugar) until after induction. Then that would be a safe way to go. You've already lost of your weight, so I would definitely move on to OWL as soon as induction is over, so it will be no time before you should be able to add it back in. Also look at what the caesar dressing is based on. Mine is sour cream based, making it induction safe and has no sugar (it's Marie's Chunky Feta Cheese Dressing) If it has milk in it to make it creamy, then that wouldn't be induction friendly either. Milk comes in OWL Rung 2.

    Hope that helps!

Thanks Bonnie! It says it's made from cows milk cheeses.. parmesan and romano... I have been eating it the past 5 days and I'm on day 11 of my induction. I havent lost anymore weight this week...which I just assumed was normal since I lost 5 the first week...I just want to make sure I'm not eating something that could stall me.

Re: Is my Ceasar Dressing a NO GO?

        Hey everyone,

first of all - well done on losing 5lbs Laura! but I have to say from your pic that you look great the way you are! so don't stress too much if the rest doesn't come off quickly.

Secondly - a question for everyone...I'm getting my head round the whole 'no sugar on induction' thing. But, say I did have mayo with added sugar...as long as I'm still in ketosis (according to the pee sticks) will I still be losing etc? Is the whole thing about sugar the fact that it can kick you out of ketosis? or can it still stall you even while you're in it?

        Thanks
        Pamela

Your body will use the sugar for energy instead of fat.. when you burn fat for energy you loose weight.. so when you eat sugar your body stops burning the fat and you stop loosing weight. thats not the exact science of it but its its the basic concept .... Read the book it explains how your body breaks down food and how this way of eatting works .. its very important to understand how and why this way of eatting works..

You can have that dressing as long as its not added sugar. Does it show sugar in the ingredients? If so i would get another brand.

You should avoid anything with added sugar. Those are the kind of things you are trying to eliminate from your diet for good. Yes you could potentially still lose weight but this WOL isn't just about that. Its about getting rid of the bad, unhealthy things that made us overweight in the first place.
