  • Sugar, sugar, sugar

This has probaby been beaten to death, but I couldn't find the threads.

I know you're suppose to avoid sugar. That's given. So on packaging where it states -0- sugar (not >1% but -0-) , but sugar is listed in the ingredients (like in mayo, non-diet cream cheese, blue cheese dressing, whipped cream) is that sugar also suppose to be avoided at all cost during induction? If so, does that mean one needs to shop at the health food store for zero sugar dairy goods, and are those even available??? I'm on week 2, (10 days) and only showing -4 pounds. I think I've been really sticking to it and getting plenty of exercise. I know I'm older now than the last time I did this 10 years ago, but 4 pounds!!! give me a break. I can lose 4 pounds in 2 days on the cabbage soup diet.

Could it be the insignificant sugar ingredient that's holding in back or am I expecting too much too soon?

I read about the 10-15 in 2 weeks, so I guess I am a little disappointed.

    HELLLLPPPP.

Actually sugar should be avoided as an ingredient all through your Atkins journey, not just on induction.
Many people make their own dressings to avoid the added sugar that is in most commercial dressings. In USA there are brands without sugar (Dukes is one I hear) which you might need to order online if no shops in your area carry them. Sometimes you can ask local shops to get them in for you too.

you dont say how much weight in total you are hoping to lose. A loss of 4 pounds in the whole 14 days would be great for someone with up to 40 pounds to lose, as an 'average' loss is between 5% and 10%.

Try not to compare your losses with anyone else. We all lose at a different pace - some lose nothing in induction at all but do get to goal by following the Atkins phases, some lose loads in the first week of induction then nothing for a few weeks after that.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

It seems the question would be, are you in ketosis? If you are, I would not imagine the very small amounts of sugar are really a problem. I have only lost 6 in the same amount of time, I think I am more resistant this time than last time around. I would say, dig in for the long haul! How is your energy? Don't you feel more clearheaded than when consuming carbs? Focusing on those benefits might help your discouragement.
