  • Just made flax cereal

It was yummy and such a nice change from eggs! I used the recipe posted below and I added a dash of cinnamon and a touch of brown sugar splenda.

    3 Tbls. flaxmeal
1/4 cup water or 1/2 cup so it's not so gooey

    1 Tsp. butter
    1 Tbls. cream
    sweetner (optional)
Microwave on high for 1 minute 20 seconds or just until boiling point.

That sounds good One question though, isn't splenda brown sugar really brown sugar with splenda mixed in it? Therefore it wouldn't be allowed? Just curious because I was looking at it for hubby a couple weeks ago and didnt buy it for this reason.

Splenda brown sugar is off limits. I have some here it's: SUGAR, Molasses, Glycerin, sucralose, and "natural and artificial flavors"

SugarTwin makes fake brown sugar... I've made BBQ Sauce with this and it's pretty good!

Oh if you are in Canada, SugarTwin Brown Sugar has Cyclamates in it. Apparently you are only supposed to have these if your Dr says it's okay. I don't really know what they are, but I'd ask before eating it... In the US Ingredients it uses Saccharin, so just watch how much you use, I'd say.

            Re: Just made flax cereal

I hate to rain on the Flax Parade, but that recipe has too much flax for Induction phase.
            According to the book:

            For daily fiber supplementation
Chapter 8: "I recommend that you take one tablespoon of psyllium husks daily. Be sure to select a sugar-free product. You can also take one tablespoon of coarse wheat bran or flaxseed meal."

            For relief of constipation
Chapter 11: "If you are constipated, mix a tablespoon or more of psyllium husks in a cup or more of water and drink daily. Or mix ground flaxseed into a shake or sprinkle wheat bran on a salad or vegetables."

So there is a limit set forth in the book. If you use the flax as a food, then the On-Going Weight Loss phase is the appropriate phase to do that. During Induction it's only used as a fiber supplement or as a constipation reliever in the amounts specified in the book.
