  • I feel like crap

    Hi All,
I know its normal to have symptom in the beginning because your body is going through withdrawl but how long does this last. I have lost 3 pounds since starting 2 days ago but I must admit I feel like crap. My body is weak. I have headaches that last all day and I feel nausous like I want to throw up. Its truly making me want to quit. How long does this last.
Also I've been taking the vitamins and drinking water. I have been going to the bathroom at least twice an hour. At work the ladies room is so far away. Did anyone else experience this. Any advice on how to cope???? :sadblinky

Welcome to induction flu, sweeety, the good news is the plan is working. And the better news is that it won't last long. Take some asprine and youll be fine in a day or so. Pretty soon your going to have so much energy, you won't know what to do with yourself.

      Stay the Course

      Don't quit.

After your body adjusts you will feel better than you ever.

Before Atkins I used to feel sick and tired all the time. Now I feel engergized all the time. It is truly amazing what the body will do for you once you stop clogging it up with junk.

        Hi Sweety :wave

Welcome aboard I know it feels awful but this is your body crying out as all those horrible carbs and sugar leave your system, it's natural and if you think about it, it means Atkins is already working.

Don't give up because you feel crappy! it's just a little bump in the road to feeling fabulous!

So hang in there, treat yourself with kindness, pamper yourself...take long baths and sip ice water, sleep, watch your favorite movies do whatever it is you need to do to make this time of feeling lousy easier on yourself - but don't give in, don't cheat or you'll end up having to start all over again.

        That said, hang in there!

          hello sweeety
i too experienced this within the first few days and i still do feel quite low on energy after 17 days of doing the induction. but no matter what dont quit and dont give into temptation.

although i am starting to feel a bit better and less tired etc my body has still not adjusted fully to the low carb lifestyle i am undertaking.

it will take time so just stick it out and in the end im sure you'll feel much better about yourself just like all the people who are on this board who have done extremely well on this diet! :icondance:

sweeety-- How are you feeling today? When your body changes from a carb-burning machine to a fat-metabolizing machine you are going to feel a bit under the weather. As the others have said, this is known as induction flu. Hang in there! By day 10 you are going to be a new sweeety!

That's right... like everyone said, DON'T GIVE UP or IN! Your body is having to withdrawal from so many bad things you've put into your body. It's cleansing itself, so you are going to feel crappy for a bit, but I promise you, it is so wonderful to wake up and feel full of energy and on top of the world once the induction flu is over with!

The first few days were terrible for me...I have never been so exhausted I don't think..but the exhaustion has gone although I can't say I've had that "burst" of energy. I find my muscles are still aching, not sure if it means I have to do some serious exercising, but at the moment my muscles are so sore can't imagine doing too much. I definitely don't have the urge to cheat though, which surprises me, any other diet I cheated right after losing 5 lbs hehehehehe.

Hi Sweety I'm on day 4 of induction and I'm right there with you! Don't give up it gets better. I'm also in the bathroom at least twice an hour! Once our bodies get used to drinking so much water it'll adjust. :nod

I know exactly how you feel. Last time I done this I quit before the week was up because I felt horrible. I felt like I had a huge lump in my stomach, and felt sick and weak. This second time around I don't feel as bad, but I'm afraid that I should because I think it means you are doing what you are supposed to. I wish I had stuck with it, it is so hard the second time around because you don't loose as much weight as the first time.

                            :wave Hi All,

Thank you for your support. I actually feel a little better today. I still have a slight headache and a bit whoozy when I stand up but all in all its getting better. I am happy that I didn't give up. I've stuck with it. If it weren't for this board, I probably would have given up. I read the book where Dr atkins talks about these symptoms but hearing people actually going through it with me was a little more reassuring. Thanks all.

glad you are doing better...I always think it's better to try to start this WOE on a Friday because you can take it easy on the weekend...it's hard having to work when you are trying to fight thru the induction flu.
