  • *cross-posted* I put this in the mainforum also? Question about Splenda

I put this here too because I know this is really active from my previous post...you guys are so helpful! But if I shouldn't cross-post, let me know!

I know that you count one Splenda packet as one net carb but what about foods/drinks that are made with Splenda that don't break down any sort of Splenda count? I have NO idea what to do with 0 net carb foods and drinks (as far as reading the labels) that are sweetened with Splenda. Obviously, I'm talking about grocery store food and not things I make at home.

Example: Diet Coke sweetened with Splenda

Yes, know caffeine can stall some but I figured since no aspartame in this one, I will see if I can do ok with it...if not, I'll forego. But I want to make sure I'm at least counting it right.

    thank you!

I had the same question when I started, so I'm glad that you asked it! I hadn't been counting the splenda in diet soda as one of my 3 servings. I better start doing that! I don't drink it often, but I do like the carbonation every once in awhile and I really like the Hanson's brand diet soda. The rootbeer with a Tablespoon of heavy cream is good. Very much like a root beer float.

I agree with counting each serving of sweetener as one of your allowed 3 per day, whether it is from granulated sweetener or the liquid used in commercial products.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

I agree with Elizellen that, during induction particularly, you should count 1 serving of the soda (often cans have two or more servings in them) as 1 serving of sweetener to stay within your 3.

I have read though that commercial products are made with liquid splenda which does not have the filler carbs, so you do not have to count it as an actual carb count, just a sweetener limit.
