Diet soda

Hey everyone,
Ok I have a question about diet soda. I've tried this diet many times and failed because as posted a couple day's ago I'm not a meat eater but also I love Mountain Dew so I would suffer BAD headaches.I found a diet soda I like diet Cherry Vanilla Dr.Pepper but I was reading a post here that diet soda is not okay on the Atkins diet I have read the book and from my understanding it was ok.Any thoughts thanx Lisa

The basic reason for why diet soda is not allowed during induction is due to the sweeteners used. Most diet drinks contain a sweetener names Aspartame. This is a common cause for stalls in weight loss. The only acceptable sweetener is Splenda.

As far as I am aware (as I am in the UK) the only soda that you can drink is Diet Rite, (we dont have that here). Even then you must limit your intake as you do have restrictions on the amount of sweeteners you are allowed.

Strictly speaking though you should drink nothing but water on Induction. Thats what I did and I lost a lot of weight.

After Induction you can drink Diet Rite cola, it's made with Splenda and is caffeine free. The make other flavors as well.

You can also buy flavored syrups, I don't like the Atkins brand but Da Vinci is excellent and inexpensive at about $6.00 for a big 25 ounce bottle. They're wonderful for making Italian sodas or to add to decaf tea, coffee, homemade whip cream and much more. But after induction!
