  • painful legs cramps what to do

I am on day number 4 cheat free. And for the third day now my calves are in such pain. I have not been exercising. I am taking my atkins vitamins and drinking water (at least 64 oz a day).

I feel like crap. Any advice

You're still probably low on some minerals. Lipolysis is a strong diuretic, which is why Dr. Atkins said to drink that water. Also if you're restricting your vegetables to lettuce, you won't be getting all the minerals you need.

There are a few things you can do: take potassium, magnesium and calcium. Some people will take potassium pills---I'm not fond of that because if you take too much, you'll run into a bunch of health problems. You can buy a no-salt salt substitute that is made with potassium (read the label).

For magnesium, some people take magnesium tablets. The problem with this is that magnesium can cause stomach upset, gas and bloating. It can also lower your blood pressure, which may or may not be a good thing. So, I prefer to soak in Epsom salts. Epsom salts are made from magnesium. Your body will absorb only as much magnesium as you need and you won't typically have the issues with bloating or stomach pain.

For calcium, eat cheese or darky leafy green vegetables (Google "Calcium rich food" to find a more complete list).
