  • what to do??

One of my best friends is getting married in 2 weeks. I'm in the wedding and hence invited to the bachlorette party. I tried to convince her to go out and I'd be her designated driver but she said she'd rather have a night in with all of her friends and have a big slumber party. My problem lies in that's day 12 of my induction. Will I completely mess things up if I partake in the festivities? I was thinking of making jello shots with sugar free jello. What is your opinion?

    Re: what to do??

This is just my opinion, and I may get blasted for saying it... but hey, it's one of your best friends, and she's getting married... You should all have fun and enjoy the evening. You'd definitely be better off staying away from the alcohol if possible, but it's probably understandable if you don't. If you make the jello shots, the sugar free would be better, as well as an alcohol that doesn't have a lot of sugar/carbs in it. Maybe a light rum?

It's not a good solution, but at least you can maybe minimize the damage. Then, of course, jump right back on as soon as possible.

Enjoy the moment, but don't forget the future, and your reason for doing Atkins in the first place.

Calling it GOAL at this point. I'm happy with where I am now and hope to stay there, or maybe even take it down a little more.

The choice is yours to make. But just remember what Dr. Atkins wrote: alcohol is metabolized by your body before it metabolizes carbs, proteins or fats. So ketosis/lipolysis will be delayed until all that alcohol has been processed by your body.

Therefore, if getting inebriated at your friend's bachorelette party is more important to you than losing weight, go ahead and parttake the refreshments. If it isn't, then don't.
