I never thought I'd be eating these, but they do contain 0 carbs and are in the chips section, making them seem like a legitimate way to "cheat", or feel like I am. I got the munchies today and ended up eating the whole bag(not at one sitting). Will this be detrimental to my weight loss? Maybe I just didn't have enough meat and fat. It was a turkey burger patty and broccoli for dinner. Then i polished off the rest of the bag of pork rinds. Is this okay?

Re: Pork rinds?
They are safe to eat. However, they have a lot of salt so you may retain some water and not see changes on the scale after eating a whole bag. Also if you feel that you lose control with pork rinds - they may be a trigger thing for you and better left on the shelf in the store. But occasionally as a snack - why not? ( I just had some pork rind "nachos" myself)

Re: Pork rinds?
Ha! Reminds me of the time I ate a half pack of bacon. But, that is more than balanced out by the many many times I have eaten that much of one food type ... in salad!240/231/198

Re: Pork rinds?
And I guess it's still better than the days when I'd eat half a package of chocolate chip cookie dough, or a whole container of ice cream! This plan ROCKS, I seem to have lost my sugar cravings after only 2 weeks!sigpic

Re: Pork rinds?
Laurie, pork rind nachoes
Is just some pork rinds - crushed a bit on a plate, cheddar cheese over it and some sugar free salsa on top - microwaved.
Pork rinds are also good to use as breading on fried chicken for instance.

Re: Pork rinds?
Liv - great idea, that sounds like my kind of a snack! Do they sell "sugar free salsa" at the store, or do you have to make it yourself? I'm not much of a cook.sigpic

Re: Pork rinds?
Yes some of the salsas in the stores are sugar free. You just have to read the label. I use generic salsa from Safeway. It is sugar free.
If you make nachos make sure not to go over your daily cheese limit though.

Re: Pork rinds?
this is not my forum but i had to come say this....
please watch portions. PORTION CONTROL.
something might say zero carbs and be perfectly legal but that does not give way to eating the whole kit and kaboodle. there might be zero carbs in one portion but the whole thing might have 5 or 10 or 20.
PORTION CONTROL.

Re: Pork rinds?
Be sure to read the labels though. Some varieties out there add spices and stuff and there are carbs in them. The kind I buy is the plain kind. Just pork rinds with salt added.Originally posted by BigSmooth View PostI cant believe that i'm reading this. Pork rinds are safe!!!! WOW!
