  • Induction & a Wedding

Alright, so today was Day 1 of induction, and next weekend I have a wedding to go to. i have never been to a wedding so i don't know what to expect. i 'm going to buy some ketostix tomorrow to motitor my ketosis, but i'm assuming i will probably end up consuming more than my allowable number of carbs on that day. from your experiences, does that screw EVERYTHING up? can i just add an extra day onto the end of my induction? or an extra number of days that it takes me to get back int ketosis?

    thanks for your help!

JS (btw i'm a girl lol)

If you throw yourself out of ketosis it will take 2-3 days to get back into ketosis. And depending on how many symptoms of the withdrawal you have, you will put yourself through it all over again.

It is possible to eat at your wedding you are attending and stay on track. Most wedding receptions have salads available, and crudites, (cut up veggies) maybe cheese balls or cubed cheese... if you look around you can find some clean protein, fat, and veggies.

Really, try not to cheat. But if you have to cheat, eat nuts and stay away from breads and such. And remember, wedding cake is rarely all that delicious. It is often plain, often dry.. just not that special.

And if you eat 'Atkins style' before you go, you may manage very well!

Oh, sorry for assuming you are a guy!

I agree with momtomany1, you should be able to stay onplan by only eating foods on the allowed list. If you doubt your ability to do this then eat a hearty 'legal' meal before you go so you will not be hungry and in the mood for eating offplan. Maybe even take a goodsized stash of 'legal' snacks to eat while there!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

These are fantastic ideas!! How does it normally work at a wedding - there are usually tons of courses, right? (I've never actually been to a wedding). The thing that makes it tougher is that I don`t really know the guy I`m going with (i am just his date as a favour) so I feel ridiculoustell ing him I can`t have any pasta or anything. I could just load up on meat and veggie dishes though and say Im too full for pasta.

I can do this. I can do this.

Actually, if you're going to "cheat" with allowable foods (which is what I suggest you do)....do it with VEGETABLES as opposed to nuts.

I don't know a soul who got fat eating vegetables. I, myself, have gained weight eating nuts...but never vegetables. I don't think I could eat enough veggies to get that high in carbs! Well, maybe I could....but that would be a heck of a lot of vegetables.

Scope out the veggie trays and salads and stuff like that. Meats without sauces if possible.
