Re: Atkins Protein Bars??
Look at the list of ingredient and compare them with the list of foods allowed on Induction.
As far as I know ALL the lowcarb bars contain ingredients not on the allowed list so should be saved till you get to the level of OWL where they are allowed.4. Eat absolutely no fruit, bread, pasta, grains, starchy vegetables or dairy products other than cheese, cream or butter. Do not eat nuts or seeds in the first two weeks. Foods that combine protein and carbohydrates, such as chickpeas, kidney beans and other legumes, are not permitted at this time.
5. Eat nothing that is not on the acceptable foods list. And that means absolutely nothing! Your "just this one taste won't hurt" rationalization is the kiss of failure during this phase of Atkins.Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!

Re: Atkins Protein Bars??
Perhaps I only speak for myself on this one, but I have included the Atkins foods (bars, shakes, chocolate) in previous attempts while this time around I have not. I have been MUCH more successful this go around than previously. I attribute that, in part, to sticking to "real" foods in my diet (this goes for artificial sweetener as well). My guess is that others have found the same to be true and are sharing the "good news." Of course, your mileage may vary.

Re: Atkins Protein Bars??
I understand what your saying Elizellen about the allowed foods...but on the Atkins web site it says some of these bars are Atkins Induction Friendly. Also the bars that interest me have 0g of sugers and 0 grams of alcohois sugers.Just trying to understand why they market this as Induction friendly if we cant have it.But i guess only they can answer that really hehe. Here is the one so you can see what i mean http://www.atkins.com/Products/Produ...px?productId=8Chivon H

Re: Atkins Protein Bars??
Your example is for a peanut butter/granola bar. Atkins states in his book (as Elizellen pointed out in her post) that nuts and grains are not allowed in Induction (#4 on Rules of Induction, Chap. 11 in DANDR).
Atkins Nutritional, Inc is a company trying to be profitable. Dr Atkin's was a man with a plan. Re-read my earlier post and decide whether you want to follow the doctor's advice or the company's advice. Neither answer is incorrect, but you may get different results based on your decision. Guess that's how every decision plays out in life, huh?

Re: Atkins Protein Bars??
i have used the bars as an occasional "sweet" snack, however, since its not recommended here, and they are pretty expensive... i choose to refrain... (also since i cant seem to stop at one bar.. its my weakness)

Re: Atkins Protein Bars??
I think because they contain all those illegal ingredients they can cause those kinds of cravings - so it is so much better to keep to the straight and narrow.
