    hey guys,
I know there have been posts about why you really shouldn't cheat, but unfortunately, I had some pad thai for lunch and now it seems like I'm having some trouble getting back into ketosis for one and secondly I literally can't stop eating. Since many of the induction meals are much heavier than snacking on say something like fruit, I'm wondering if any of you have this overeating problem. I'm avoiding cheese, aspartame and sticking to meat and eggs to speed up the process but I'm worried that I won't be able to get back into ketosis. Should I try the high fat diet for a few days? It's been 2 days since the cheat and I've only eaten more and because of all this, I'm getting ready to give up from the frustration. Some help please!!

    Re: overeating

Hope you figured it out. Cheating is not worth it. Being thrown off ketosis is a pain in the ***. You are having cravings. That is another side effect of cheating. Just keep sticking to the diet and you will get back on track (probably soon). You can do it.

the cravings are a result of destabilization of your blood sugar from cheating. this is why on low fat high carb diets, people are always C RAVING more sugar - it satisfies you, but only temporarily. on high fat low carb, you control those cravings (or we learn to, anyway). since you havhe been deprived of carbs now for several days probably, your blood sugar is going crazy. its not because you are used to simply 'eating more'.

Please don't quit. You have been doing very well. One meal just proves that low carb is right for you because with the carbs came the cravings. I know it is the same for me. Simple carbs only satisfy for a short time but just lead me to eating more and more to try to be satisfied. Kind of like your former morning cereal bowl. At first you measure and it is under half way full and then in a week it is full to the brim because you need more. Even a healthy cereal will set you up for blood sugar crashes and sets the day for cravings. Take a deep breath and eat your low carb veggies with your meats. Ketosis will come and truly you are probably in just in lightly.

When you say high fat diet I hope you are getting your veggies in too. It's not just high fat high protein diet... thats not Atkins... gotta get in those veggies!

Don't give up. It's not like your body won't let you into ketosis, it's just that you had a slip up -- but learn from your mistake and keep pushin' through....it WILL be worth it!
