  • How long before inches come off?

Hi everyone! I've been on induction for almost a week now, and its going well. I've lost about 4 lbs. But I was wondering, how long until I start to see some inches come off? I measured myself before inducion, and now (after one week) is that too soon?? :confused I know many of you have had experiences where the scale wasn't moving but the tape measure was, but I seem to be doing the opposite!! I haven't experienced the typical whooosh of water weight because I was doing the south beach diet before Atkins, and that's when most of my water weight came off.

If anyone has any wisdome I'd love to hear it!

I used fitday.com to post my measurements and then take them monthly to compare. I would give it at least four weeks before measuring again, but it's really up to you... just don't do it too soon so you don't get obsessive or upset that you didn't lose an inch yet. Remember, you will lose water weight first and then the extra fat around your organs first.

Ditto what Dawn said about measuring once a month.
I felt my waistband loosen up a bit around week three though, and some shirts started to feel a bit looser as well.

        Hi, :wave

Congrats on losing 4 pounds! That's fabulous!

I've been on Induction for 9 days now and have lost about a pound but I feel GREAT and hope to lose more slowly as time goes on.

Dawn really makes a good point, Remember don't let yourself get addicted to that scale OR that measuring tape. Lower cholesterol, more energy, and an over all feeling of physical and emotional well being can't be measured by either.

        You're doing great!

Go to www.mybodycomp.com it gives you more places to measure I find if I measure all the basic spots sometimes the inches don't come off with the body comp I see more of a change in my measures cause you measure basically from the neck down to the ankle. I like to put my measures in 1 times every 2 weeks I see a difference but, if you do not exercise I would wait a month.

Way to go on the 4 pounds be SOOOO PROUD of yourself.

Thanks everyone :hug I really appreciate your advice.

I do work out (weights and cardio) about 3 times a week. I wish I had time for more, but I'm a grad student, which speaks for itself.

This board has been a great wealth of support and information, I love it! ha
