  • Just wanted to say hi

Hi everyone, just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. My hubby and I started Atkins on Feb. 21/05. I must say so far this has been relatively easy for us. Having us both doing it is great, but as well we have two teenagers who love to eat anything and everything, so sometimes it requires two meals but so far we've been handling it all fine. I've been reading this forum since the second day I started Atkins, and it definitely boosts the drive to move forward. Having been heavy for all my life it seems the idea of being "trim" is a very real future from what I've read and seen from other members. Anyways, I could go on and on but basicallly just wanted to say HI :yes

      welcome to ADBB

if those teens do eat anything and everything jyou can save some work by just supplement the Atkins part of the meal with some higher GI foods you and hubby will also be eating when you reach that phase of OWL. You could be hepling your teens eat healthier too.

I think I'd have a bloody war on my hands if they didn't have some of their die hard kid food!! LOL but I have warned them that the junk food in the house will be limited from now on...one bag of chips per week and I'll still bake them some goodies. Basically though, they eat what we eat except for fish, and they love their spaghetti so thats an easy meal to prepare ahead of time to have throughout the week.

There are certain foods and desserts I still make for my kids, and then make my own meals. Since my change in eating I have adjusted my kids meals to be more healthy and offer more healtheir choices than I once did.

            Hi! :wave

Welcome aboard - think it's great you and your hubby will be taking this journey to better health and weightloss together.

Doing Atkins with someone else, especially a spouse is wonderful because it's such "easy access motivation!"

You'll do wonderfully just stick with it!

                :wave Hi Softone :wave

Welcome to ha I aso cook for a house of 5 and I'm the only one living the Atkins WOL and I still make spaghetti, potatoes, high carb desserts ect... for the other members of my family. I really just cook the same as I always did I just pass on the potatoes and take the meat and veggies or on spaghetti or some other form of high carb night I cook 2 meals one for everyone else and something really good for me like my favorite hot wings or steak and mushrooms or something I really enjoy so that I don't feel upset over not being able to have the spaghetti ect...the only thing that has changed is that on Saturday night "pizza night" the whole family enjoys Meatzza(meat crust pizza) instead of delivery and we all like it better anyway LOL :nod .
This seems to be working very well for me and my family :yes .

Anyway welcome aboard :wave and I look forward to getting to know you better and reading about your and your DH's succsses :nod
