  • The going part is not going

Okay...this is gonna be gross...but here I go...
This is my 10th day of induction, so far 5 lbs lost and I feel GREAT! Although, getting up at 5 am, working out and then picking up babies until 5 pm wears me out. Anywho...here's my problem...I can't go #2. I barely go at all. I don't get the urge to go and most of the time I sort of sit there until I can get something out. I eat 2 tablespoons of flax seed on my eggs every morning, drink between 100 and 110 ounces of water a day but still no luck in the potty department. I cut out cheese hoping this would help, but it hasn't. I'm sure not going is not at all good for you, and I used to be so regular. Could I take stool softeners, or drink green tea to see if this would help?
Can someone give me some suggestions?
Thanks and sorry, I know it's gross.

    I would suggest glycerine suppositories
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

The one-word answer is simply, "Psyllium"

Get some without sugar/additives; take daily*. Problem solved!

      TWS

*I take a rounded tsp. in a glass of water. Some sources say to take more so adjust as necessary.

        Hi Tink,
        Some great advice here.
I once had the same problem. I added liquid cap magnesium 400 mg. I already take a good Pro-Biotic which helps with digestion and psyllium. I eat flaxmeal at least 3 times a week. Of course getting your water in is important aswell. I really believe the liquid cap magnesium and the Pro-biotic is the ticket for me.
        Hope you get relief soon.

Re: The going part is not going

I take a probiotic and fish oils as part of my daily supplements and I have never used flax or psyllium. i am slower than when I wasn't doing atkins but not constipated. If you are in a lot of pain I would probably try the glycerin suppository to get things loose and then change your plan. You don't want to rely on a stimulant or suppository ongoing.

oh and water, water, water, water!

This may sound odd, but I recall having a similar problem when I was in the first two weeks of Induction until I overdid it on some pepperoni. The next day was NOT pretty, but it did take care of the "problem." The good news is that on extended Induction I don't seem to have the problem anymore. I don't know if my intestines adapted to my new diet or if my efforts to eat plenty of leafy greens is paying off. Oh, and exercise helps me as well (especially crunches). Good luck!

You really didn't mention much of what you are eating. Are you getting in your 2 cups of salad veggies a day? I found that whenever I wasn't getting that fiber in, I had the same issue that you're having... then, as soon as I put the leafy veggies back in, I got cleaned out pretty quickly... I know... gross, but it helped.

Good luck to you, I know this is not funny.

Re: The going part is not going

Are you taking the Flax seed oil or the actual seeds. I have always suffered from constipation and find when I take the Flax Oil 1 tbsp in the morning and 1 at night it helps keep me regular. Also I think all the veggies I am now taking in help. Are you getting enough veggies in?

Re: The going part is not going

I eat 2 cups of salad a day. And then for dinner I'll either eat cooked brocolli, cauliflower or raw celery or cucumbers.
It seems to be getting better, I think it also may have to do with my TOM, that should be coming soon.
At least I was able to go today.
Thanks for all your help guys!
