  • 2 questions:

okay, so i know we aren't supposed to count calories but since fitday does it anyway......

is anyone else freaking out over the number of calories you consumed? my stats look pretty ok, 5% carb, 65% fat 30% protein and well, im at 2000 calories which when im used to 'striving for' like, 1500 (not that i ever ATTAIN that) i just feel so ....FREAKED OUT!!

im gonna keep going, i know im in ketosis.

one more question - i kept it under 20 carbs, but i ate more veggies than i'm supposed to :S that isn't something that should throw me out of ketosis, right? and if you're only eating 2 cups salad 1 cup other veggies - do your carbs come close to 20?? mine dont.....

    Re: 2 questions:

No, at this point your calories certainly shouldn't matter. If you're following the guidelines of induction (you say that you're getting more carbs....) then you definitely should not be counting calories.

If your ratios are good, then you should be ok. But, when you say that you're going over your carb allowances, how are you doing that?

Are you counting the carbs from eggs, sweeteners, etc... not just the veggies?

Post a daily menu and people here will help.

Calling it GOAL at this point. I'm happy with where I am now and hope to stay there, or maybe even take it down a little more.

      Re: 2 questions:

As Rick said, you should be getting most of your carbs from your veggies, so you might be overdoing the cheese/cream etc., or choosing veg from the lists that is very low in carbs. Try some with more carbs in them to up your carbs that way and get over half of your carbs from your veg as Dr Atkins suggested.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

        Re: 2 questions:

I have the same problem... I'll eat my 3 cups of veggies and then my allowances for cheese and possibly a special item (olives or avocado) but I will only be at 15 carbs once you minus the fiber... It's okay to not be at 20 carbs per day. You just need to know how many you are at so that once you enter OWL you can add 5 from there.... If you are averaging 12 a day you certainly wouldn't want to just jump up to 25 assuming you were at 20 during induction!

Like Elizellen said, try some higher carb veggies on the list... too early for me to think of any, but I know they're out there! *by the way I am PST so it's only 549am

          Re: 2 questions:

The amount of calories I'm eating makes me nervous too, but I keep telling myself to get through induction. And if I want to do induction right, ignore the calories and just follow the rules.
