A Philly cheese steak (the real kind you get in Philly) is thinly sliced beef, that is sauteed quickly. It's put into a Italian roll, along with cheese. Sauteed onions are optional. The cheese can be Cheese Whiz, provolone or American.
The faux cheesesteak uses a processed beef (like Steak-Um), and basically the same fillings.
