  • Starting induction on Monday 3/7/05

    Hello Everyone,

I'm starting the induction phase on Monday. I will keep everyone informed on my progress. I'm 6'2 and weight 285 pounds, so I'd like to lose 80 pounds! Does anyone have any advice that they would like to share.

All help and advice is much appreciated!

    Peace out! :wave

      Welcome DPman! :wave

Monday beings a whole new journey for you, the same one that's helped countless thousands of people lose weight and improve their way of life in every conceivable respect. From physical to emotional health, everything changes.

Don't worry about the 80 pounds, unless you want to switch? I have 102 to lose!

I hope you have the book "Dr.The Atkins New Diet Revolution" or just DANDR, it's the real key to your success - and a great read to boot!

I know you'll do great and you can count on the people here to support and encourage you in every way - welcome.

As well as reading the book you need to plan your menus.

You dont want to 'have' to eat something not on the acceptable foods list because you are caught somewhere at mealtimes that has no acceptable options.

Also read labels (this means taking twice as long in the supermarket btw :yikes) as it is suprising how many savoury foods have sugar in for example.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!

            Hi there!

Hey welcome and best of luck to you. You can do it!!!

Try and exercise too. I've only been doing this for a week and I've already seen the benefits. I'm diabetic and talked with my doctor about it and my blood sugar has gone from 250+ down to 133 (last night!) My doctor says, keep up the good work and keep doing what you're doing.

I can feel myself shrinking (and I'm not kidding), my stomach is going down and I can tell you it really works. I'm not weighing myself for 2 weeks, though. I want to surprise myself.

Hope all goes well and if you need any supporting words, you'll find it here.

Advice? YES! Read your 2002 Atkins Diet Revolution book!

Aside from this, don't eat anything that's not allowed in induction or the cravings won't ever go and leave you in peace!

Remember that uinduction flu is normal.

                  My two cents!!

Read the sticky's in the forums! :yes They're chock full of good advice, and should answer a lot of your questions as well.

All the best to you on your Atkins journey!

Moochie just gave you the advice I was going to give you! Sometimes reading the stickies can drive home points that didn't quite click while reading the book.
