why do you have the cake anywhere near you to begin with...the problem is that you need to fight thru the cravings or you will keep caving in...induction is supposed to be the time we break our addictions to sweets...anytime you crave something sweet you need to find something to replace it...eat an induction legal snack....read a book...take a walk...read thru the messages on these boards...drink water...and try to keep as much of the junkfood out of the house as possible(if you have others not doing Atkins then you need to at least keep the bad stuff out of sight). It is murder fighting thru the first few days but it gets easier I swear and you know that we are always here to give you help when you need it. Now...get back to eating the right stuff and back on track...you can do this. :hug

Well I honestly didn't like chocolate cake to begin with, so I don't miss it at all. What I did miss however was Pizza. I simply couldn't have it in the house initially. If you are absolutely hungry, then eat something fatty, like something with cream cheese or perhaps something like sausage patties. The point is like Hulagirl says you have to redirect what you think you want cake to something you can do. In the end though it comes down to "do you want to lose weight bad enough to forego the immediate pleasure of cake?" No one can make that decision for you, but in making that decision you can indeed control what you eat with commitment.

amesalem-- once you've been on Atkins for awhile the cravings leave.

Take huge whiffs of the cake. Smelling items is as satisfying as tasting them. Have you ever noticed when you have a cold food tastes not so very good? It's all in your nose!

So take the time to sniff a cake,
But eat it and some fat you'll make!

Girl, let me tell you something.

On Halloween I laid in bed with a bag of Snickers and just buried my face in them!

Some people sniff glue. You'll find me in empty alleys bogarting the fumes of baked goods!

Seriously. Go and smell it. Take your time and let your nostrils reallyfill up with the smell. It is seriously a lot like aroma therapy. I'll bet you walk away saying, "Dang! That was satisfying!"

This post reminds me of the time I took a walk through the baking goods section of the grocery store. I picked up this BIG bar of chocolate and took a couple of great big whiffs. That was so good.

Also remember once you get into OWL and on the nuts rung, you can bake a chocolate cake using almond flour, cocoa and splenda and ice it with cream cheese and splenda or cream.

I take a different approach than some others and I stay away from the stuff. I don't sniff it, I don't try to eat "pretend" sweets. I drink water, walk around my house, take a hot shower, shave my legs, paint my nails, pick up a craft project, kiss my husband ... do something, but don't eat the food I'm craving.

For me, I got fat because every craving was one that I tried to satisfy. So I had to start taking a closer look at my cravings and really examine why and what my triggers were. To those going through a 14 day induction, try it without the "pretend" sweets ... and instead try to create new behaviors and replace the old habits.

                    Best wishes to you all.

hmm, really good ideas in here.

I like the sniffing one. I dont know about the snorting, it will block my nostrils, i wont be able to breathe, 90% chance i will die. So i wont do that. Ill stick to the sniffing.

How do u guys eat that whipped cream crap! i bought some and it tastes like ****! ewwww. Sorry but it does!

                      Be good.

what whipped cream did you use? if you whip up heavy cream with some splenda and vanilla it tastes really good.

                          Sorry you miss the chocolate

Well, I've only been on induction for a week, but my cravings have completely stopped. I used to be a major dark chocoholic!!!! Especially with cherries inside, yum...

But, my mind/body doesn't crave it anymore like I used to. I can actually walk past the candy aisle and not want any. Really strange, but true. :confused

Hope things work out for ya.
